Just thought I'd show these today. That morning I was sittting in my office with a view of the WTC looking South. I couldn't wait for my day to end, I had tickets to see the Yankees vs Chicago White Soxs at the old Yankee Stadium. I blinked my eyes and saw a cloud of smoke from one of the towers, we turned on the radio and then tried to call our colleagues located in the building across from the WTC. Co-workers gathered to watch from my window and then the second tower got hit. We were in shock.....the first building collapsed.....we evacuated. The city was locked down. I kept my tickets.

Thanks for sharing.
I was at Yankee Stadium that Sunday the 9th to see the Red Sox/Yankees play. Amazing/Shocking what happened 2 days later. It was the first time I was ever in that area too. I remember seeing the Towers on the drive in and out. Went back to work on Tuesday and well we know what happened as you posted. Of course I was in Boston and we also went on lock down. We had many contacts in NYC in and around the Towers. We lost communication with most of them for the week and just didn't know what to do. Thank goodness everyone we knew was ok in the end and their families too.

After evacuating my office building I hailed a cab. He stopped driving after a few blocks, asked me to get out. He didn't want to take a chance driving me home. I ended up walking home about 2 & 1/2 miles. It was like a movie....folks panicked, not knowing what to do, or what would happen next. I had totally forgot about having the tickets. I made it home to find my answering machine loaded with messages, friends, and relatives looking for me. I broke down in tears uncontrollable as I listened; suddenly realizing how many people cared about me. |

I remember taking a vacation day from work that day to actually go to a mid week card show. I woke up and turned the news on and the first plane had already hit. As I was watching it the second plane hit and for an instance I thought it was a replay until I realized there was already smoke coming out of the first tower. I ended up going to the card show anyway as I really didn't know what to do. When I walked in everyone had abandoned there tables and were hudled around a TV. Puts things in to perspective for everyone when there were thousands of dollars worth of cards just sitting on tables unattended as people were locked in to the TV.
