Default Post your eBay DOWNTIME steals

It's awful for the sellers, and unfair as well, but when eBay goes down, buyers get steals.

Post what you got tonight.

I got a 1986 Star Jordan BGS 9.5 (#2, one of the harder ones to gem, POP 22) for under $300. That never would've won in normal bidding circumstances.

yea, but will the seller actually send it?

if the site was down shouldn't every seller be able to relist every item they got screwed on??

SHOULD they be allowed to? ABSOLUTELY!!!!

WILL they be allowed to? NO

Will a bunch of sellers get unfair negative feedback when they decide not to ship? YES

Right now you cant pay for any items that ended in this time. Can anyone pay for any it says the items do not exist when you click to pay for them.

Kyle, since eBay and PayPal used to be the same company, maybe they still use the same servers/host? That would explain downtime for both. I can't even login to PayPal.

Ebay and Paypal are definitely down. And if the seller doesn't agree to sell you their item during the down time, they can cancel the transaction. And if a buyer leaves a negative, I'm sure the seller can have that negative removed by Ebay, due to the down time and when the transaction ended.

100% the way it should be.

I was watching those and got a couple of them. I got the same one on ebay for $250 so not a huge steal, unless mine was just a massive steal or something.

Now THAT might actually be a course of action. Since sellers can now cancel transaction, if there are enough of them, then eBay may side with feedback removal.

I'm going to be emailing my seller to see if he wants to cancel his auction sale to me...only because it has happened to me and i would hope someone would do the same for me.

Those have all doubled lately in price....especially #1, 2, 8 and 9 which are proving to be tougher to grade...less than 10% gem.

Yup, I still see it. Couldn't pay for it even if I wanted to because PayPal isn't working....though I don't plan on paying for it. I figure the seller will gladly take my offer to cancel.

Sent this as soon as I could get through to eBay messages.

Very good. I was hoping Aquaman would be willing to do the right thing.

Uh, that isn't what post 3 says. It says that a lot of sellers will get undeserving negative feedback from buyers if they don't ship. That has NOTHING to do with me, it has to do with what the reality of these outages is. It's happened before....many sellers didn't ship, many sellers got negs.

Always am....though some of the people on this forum would like to twist words or situations to convince people otherwise. There's a reason I've got 100% feedback on ebay and here and every other forum I've ever been on. I may be a vocal ass, but I actually care.

OK. Why bring up the fact that sellers will receive negative feedbacks? Nyfancam01 didn't mention feedback in their post. Sounds like a threat, more than what the reality is.

Because it IS reality. Let's say conservatively that 1,000,000 auctions were effected by this. There are going to be at least 1000 if not 10,000 sellers who refuse to ship and get negatives from their buyers....from people who aren't willing to show compassion. Why bring up the fact? Because it is relevant and reality.

I even say in that same post that sellers ABSOLUTELY should be allowed to relist, and I call the inevitable negative feedbacks that will be left "unfair".

I didn't get any deals, but I received an email saying an item is being shipped...Thing is, I received the item back in August. I thought this was strange, must have had something to do with what was going on...

AFAIK, I had 2 wins that may have been impacted by the outage. One was under average auction price because I'm getting a significant combined shipping discount. The other was near the bottom of all auction prices before calculating in shipping (combined, deeply discounted).
Both were cheap cards.
