Default New to basketball! Help!

So I have always just collected football and was curious as to what is good to collect. I am by no means a high end collector just shelling out money but I am just trying to get some input on maybe some of the better mid end products. Looking to get my collection going. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys

Is prizm a decent product that has parallels that sell decent? I know it's somewhat like that in football just wondering if it's the same in basketball

The original year of Prizm in basketball was 2012-13, product was and still is awesome. However, because of its popularity in year one, 13-14,14-15 and 15-16 Prizm has been flooded with "Prizm" color variation cards, which has pretty much ruined the Prizm brand in many peoples opinions. The 2012-13 Prizm had the base, silver Prizm, Green Prizm and Gold Prizm, now, there are so many different Prizm card/color variations it's honestly hard to keep track of. Having said all of that, the Golds still sell well (/10) but that's about it, most of the 2012-13 cards sell decent.

If you can find boxes of 2012-13 Prizm, retail and/or hobby, you wont be disappointed.

You're gonna wanna stick to vintage stuff between 1989-93, especially Hoops. The good thing is you can get some great deals on your local CL. You might find lots of 5000 cards for as little as $100!

My advice is to set a goal for yourself. Stick to a player PC or a particular set

Well I am a Celtics fan. It just got passed down as my dad was a Boston fan. He grew up loving Bird. He would get himself a stat book and watch his games and keep his stats. He is a basketball guru still and could probably tell you all of Birds lifetime stats lol but I've stayed loyal even through the rough times but here lately things have been on the rise just hopefully we can get ourselves someone with all of these draft picks we have. Also any help is appreciated on what you think of Marcus smart and rj hunter. I know rj is a rookie so his playing time fluctuates but what do people think of him and Marcus smart. Thanks guys.

Lol what do you think about rj hunter. You can get his stuff pretty cheap but who knows if he will ever get to play. I loved watching him in the ncaa tourney past year. It made it better that he went to Boston just don't know if he will ever get the chance

I like Marcus Smart and he is pretty affordable.

If you want to buy some mid-end Celts stuff let me know in a PM and we will try and work a deal.

Welcome to the basketball boards!

Well we are a Panini based market these days so Prizm, Select and if you wanna step it up but not go too crazy try Immaculate or NT singles after they have been out for a while. Or you can go all old school on everybody and collect Upper Deck and Topps cards pre 2009.

Yea I like prizm. Always have I gues because of the different refractors. I don't really know why everyone hates on Marcus smart. I like him but he can be an idiot sometimes so maybe that's why. Oh well. I've been looking at some national treasures just to get my hopes up lol. It's crazy how much difference there are in football prices and basketball prices. I know the international market is what helps but it still amazes me on how much difference there is.
