Default Does anyone buy Ebay gift cards via grocery stores...

Just to get gas points? I think it's a win win. $500 in gift cards would get ya $1 off gas, not much but nice way to save a few bucks....

Lots of people have developed a little system that by the time cash back is given from their Kasassa bank account, gas savings and Ebay bucks are all figured that 500.00 Ebay card only cost them around 400.00.

i've received a few ebay gift cards as gifts (my family just "gets" me).

now, my grandmother has this system set up. If she needs to make a big purchase, she'll go buy the gift cards at a grocery story for the points. So she gets the item through the gift cards, and then the savings on her gas with the points. AND, i think she also synergizes that with her credit card points.

I know sometimes Chase gives 5% cash back on grocery store purchases. When they do I go buy gift cards since they are coded as grocery store purchases. My grocery store also gives $.10-$.20 off per gallon of gas for every $50 spent. It's enough savings to warrant buying gift cards at the store.

Right now Kroger has 4X fuel points on gift cards. So a $100 ebay gift card gets you 0.40 cents off per gallon. On top of that, Chase has 5% back at grocery stores via Chase Freedom card. It's a great combo. First 3 months of the year Chase had 5% at gas stations, so I bought my ebay cards at Speedway and earned speedy points and 5% cash back. Can't beat it

Maybe the Salvation Army dude was just trying to get free gas by buying all those Kroger gift cards?

If eBay has a 4x eBay bucks day, I get all kinds of gift cards on there. Some that are on special that the family will use, some for me, some eBay cards. I also have my AMEX linked to eBay for payment, which gets me a percentage back on all purchases, so it's a win across the board.

If you don't buy GC's at the store you are insane.

I had to go to Home Depot yesterday - for just random stuff (light bulbs, ceiling panels, etc...)

I absolutely stopped at Giant Eagle on the way there to buy a $150 gift card. Then I filled my tank up this morning in my Yukon, so usually costs like $60, and I did it for $8

And I got my regular chase points on my CC when I paid for my gift card.

Makes total sense to do this for eBay
