I'm a seller on eBay. A potential buyer in the Philippines, with good feedback, has asked if he can buy some of my cards. He has no PayPal. He is asking me what payment methods I can accept. I asked him how did he pay for previous USA items, he said he's never purchased from outside his Country before.
Not sure I'm going to try and do the deal here. But this is an interesting question: What payment methods, besides PayPal, can a USA seller accept from a foreign buyer? Is there any way he can get a USPS Postal Money Order? Or something like that, that is guaranteed once I cash it? Thanks in advance. |

Western Union would be a great choice for you if the buyer can trust you. You can get full amount cash without paying any fees. And you can keep your cards if you like....

You need to be really careful on this. If he ends up sending you an international money order most banks charge big fees to deposit them. I learned this the hard way with a gretzky auto. I received an international money order without even thinking about it, cashed it (which takes about 2 weeks to clear), and then my bank charged me something like $40 in fees on it. This was about 3 years ago so maybe things have changed but make sure you research it.

You can do the International Money Order, but you might want to look into it as said above. Also, I don't think all banks in the U.S. are able to accept them, so that's a 2nd thing you'd have to check on. I'm not sure if he could get any type of other money order other than an international one.

I have only ever accepted paypal in US funds for outside the US transactions and almost all good international buyers have paypal anyway. Kind of a red flag if you ask me. Has he bought from the US before and if so how did he pay??? CYA

Typically do a postal money order in US funds and the post office will cash it. I've done this with Canadian ones before. But you want to make sure the funds are drawn off a US bank to help avoid fees.
