The book was awesome. Had every player ever to appear in a major league game. I would read it for hours at a time
There were a bunch. Duke Snider had over 400 and hadn't yet been inducted. Gil Hodges at 370 still isn't in.

Another thought on Sheffield and Martinez.

If Edgar Martinez is in, Sheffield HAS to be in.

Sheffield's WAR takes a big hit due to this defense. Martinez could not even get on the field.

So 2 people are making Hall of Fame (if this holds up)
2 people are making the Hall of Good.

It's not a real HOF until Bonds, Sosa, Clemens are in. Writers who shouldn't be voting are only keeping them out based on assumption with no proof to back it up.

I'm ok with a bigger Hall. Just change the name from Hall of Fame to something else.

If you mean Sosa?

Career .273 hitter 609 Homers 1,667 RBI. Only player in MLB history with 3 60 homer run seasons. Yeah that's not HOF numbers.

Piazza makes the Hall of Good

Only Griffey truly deserves it of those making it in.

That's because there were a bunch of guys not eligible yet that were some of the greatest offensive players in baseball history. Mays, Aaron, Mantle, Frank Robinson, Pete Rose just to name a few. The 50's and 60's were the Golden Era of baseball. Once those guys went in, it changed the paramenters by which greatness was measured. Do we really want greatness judged from this point on by Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire and Rafeal Palmeiro?

His entire career numbers are based on PEDs, so until Bonds and Clemens get in...Sosa doesn't belong in the conversation.

While Bonds and Clemens both clearly used, they had their hands on the doors of the Hall prior to that first needle.

Griffey left off of only 3 ballots.

Apparently they let 3 baboons vote.

I'd like to know what 3 voters didn't vote for Griffey, then I'd like their reasoning and then I'd like their HOF vote taken away.

Hot Stove on MLB Network will probably have the 3 voters who did put KGJ on it.

If they ever surface, they're gonna play it off as Junior was a lock, so they want to use that vote to support another player who needs it.

So essentially instead of "wasting" their vote on a person who is easily and 100% deserves to be in, they want to waste it on someone who is a borderline HoFer to them....makes zero sense
