Many thanks to those who have used it.
I am trying to keep up cross checking my collection against the likely underlying cert runs for the outed cards, but it isn't easy.

Just ones on the PSA Registry. If you know any of the collectors on the list, reach out to them. And thanks for reminding me, I do need to update that.

Thanks again for all of your hard work. It is really indispensable to the hobby. Is there a complete list somewhere?

Moser must be pathological in the sense that he just can't help himself trying to improve a cards appearance and grade no matter the value of the card. Why even bother on this type of card when you're making $1000's on others?

Might be a "test card" to assess any point in the scam process.

Yeah there will be a database of those once this settles down. But my time has been spent outing even more bad cards right now, which I think is more important for the immediate future.

It's crazy how some collectors will pay that much more for just a bump in 1 grade. The PSA Set Registry is just crazy and breeds trimmers into the business.

This card was purchased by whitman111 (Gary Moser) from PWCC as a PSA-8 on September 24, 2017 for $208.60. PWCC Marketplace link: https://www.pwccmarketplace.com/items/1550115
Same card was sold by PWCC as a PSA-9 for $6,588.00 on July 22, 2018. PWCC Marketplace link: https://www.pwccmarketplace.com/items/1696731

From the PSA-9 listing description: "Elusive short print in PSA 9. This freshly graded stunner is one of just two to reach the elite assessment and is impossible to improve upon. Pack fresh with deadly sharp corners, beautiful centering and undeniable MINT card stock. Displays chip-free edges around; a rare quality for the black border issue."

Yellow circles are print and scuff mark identifiers.
Red squares identify one spot in the sky background minimized, at least one spot touched up on the black frame in the middle of the front and the edges either touched with black (my belief) or minutely trimmed.

**Update 6/10/19** Here is the latest list of PSA Set Registry victims:
  • 1948 Leaf #6 Bobby Layne PSA 5 Cert #:23967360 Post #2739 - Currently in a user's private registry.

Unfortunately, it looks like agdoc was hit three times. Karltubing and yellowsubpoker were each hit twice. The 1948 Leaf Football Registry should be taken offline. Please reach out to these collectors if you could, especially if you know them.

I hate seeing the registry names. It's one thing to see the cards and the prices but to see names get attached and know there are fellow collectors behind them just hits a little too close to home.

PSA Cert #28313045

1911 C55 Hockey Fred Cyclone Taylor #20

Value gain of $3,219.43

This card was purchased by whitman111 (Gary Moser) from PWCC as a PSA-2 on August 27, 2017 for $432.46. PWCC Marketplace link: https://www.pwccmarketplace.com/items/1536113
Same card was sold by PWCC as a PSA-7 for $3,651.89 on March 26, 2018. PWCC Marketplace link: https://www.pwccmarketplace.com/items/1628256

From the PWCC PSA-2 listing description: "A small tear stemming from the left edge prevents a higher grade."
From the PWCC PSA-7 listing description: "Crisp edges with four sharp corners and clean borders."

Yellow circles are print and fiber identifiers.
Red square shows the area mentioned in the above PSA-2 description. The tear was evidently fixed to where PSA did not see it as a tear during the second grading of the card. The fix is easier to see on the back inside the red squares.

How the heck did he fix a tear? Someone wrote this before, but you have to respect Moser's abilities as a card doctor, even though he is a scam artist extraordinaire.

Don't let anybody stand in the way of your outing the bad cards. A database of the entirety of your findings would probably lead to even more outings, but would also be indispensable in keeping track of as many of these little baddies as possible.

Again, you're doing great work to save the hobby we all cherish. Keep it up!

PSA only bumped to a 2.5, so PWCC said eff it and called it a 3:

"Rates a '3' on our eye appeal scale."

He seems to be personally disappointed in the grade assigned...
If it's not his card why should he care???

Not the first time he has done that either.

Yeah but if you slap a sticker on it, that is effectively bumping the grade based on prices earned from the PWCC stickers.

PSA Cert #40751265

1952 Topps Willie Mays #261

Value gain of $12,698.99

This card was purchased by whitman111 (Gary Moser) from PWCC as a PSA-6 on August 10, 2017 for $5,901.01. PWCC Marketplace link: https://www.pwccmarketplace.com/items/1527224
Same card was sold by PWCC as a PSA-7.5 for $18,600.00 on June 12, 2018. PWCC Marketplace link: https://www.pwccmarketplace.com/items/1670468

Yellow circles are print and fiber identifiers.
Red squares show what looks to be corner repair. Probably will never know what else was done due to the very different scans. Still, it's a Moser touched card and he does not crack and re-sub without fondling them. A $12,500.00+ price bump.

PSA Cert #:42885916

1911 T205 Ty Cobb PSA 2.5 to PSA 3

Sold on 11/16/2018 as a PSA 2.5 by Heritage Auctions to an unknown buyer for $1,800.00
Consigned to PWCC and sold on 4/9/2019 as a PSA 3 for $2,183.00
Value gain of $383.00

This card was won in Heritage Auctions' 2018 November 15-16 Fall Sports Card Auction by an unknown bidder. Interestingly, this Cobb came from the same auction as the PSA 4.5 Mantle which launched this thread. This leads me to believe that the winner of the Cobb and Mantle were likely the same person. Only Heritage could definitively answer that question.

What we do know is that this Cobb was an alteration gone wrong. There was a small flaw on the back of the PSA 2.5, which the attempted removal led to paper loss. Furthermore, the card has gone for a quick chemical bath, as evidenced by the brighter back and the removal of staining at the bottom. My guess is after the card doctor messed up with the paper loss, he decided to quit right there.

Red squares show the paper loss. Green rectangles show the artificially brightened bottom border. The wear in the gold leaf border on the front prove it is the same card.
