Found a sealed retail box at my LCS. Couldn’t resist as he gave me a good price. Hobby on the other hand. Holy Moly!!!

Thanks! Indeed, a bit of facetiousness. That being said, I actually didn't take it all! Left a mega, 2 blasters, and like 8-10 loose cello packs! When I was paying, however (with a lil visit from LP because of the order size/cost), I overheard someone asking the rep about Optic and I presume that he scooped up the remaining.

That's crazy, I can't believe they just unloaded that much Optic all at one store at one time. I don't think anyone was seeing stocks this large even in the initial wave. You must have had great luck with the timing on that!

Yeah,...this is only my second find @ Target for Optic. Last one was only 3 megas, 4 blasters & 1 full cello. So I definitely consider myself lucky. That being said, during the week of release, at one Walmart near me, I got 2 full shipper displays and the rep told me that that was the last of what she had, BUT....that she had packed-out about FIVE TIMES of the amount that I had (at that one particular store)!! That's insanity!!

Maybe it has something to do with the volume/traffic that any particular store does, annually? Just a guess?

While is optic even close to the price of prizm? (Unopened retail wax)

Ja and Zion base are worth about half compared to prizm. Why so much optic hype?

No idea, but I personally like the design of Optic better, especially the silvers.

Looking at Target Megas.... Prizm is going for 150-160 and Optic 80-90. Doesn’t seem that close to me.

Cellos seem to be close though.

Because people are paying for the big hits (or potential to hit them). If you can hit a $2000 Gem Holo in a blaster, people are going to be willing to pay more for that opportunity. Base doesn’t matter as much in Optic as Prizm because Prizm is the flagship, but retail holds strong value because of Holos, checkerboards, #’d cards (pretty much impossible in retail Prizm), and on-card autos. Plenty of hits that you would be happy with out of Optic retail whereas Prizm is just base and parallels

Cellos seem to be close though.

That’s just because the rankings within Prizm and Optic are backwards. Target Prizm had red ice which is basically the most desired parallel out of readily available retail products, while purple shock is pretty meh. Prizm cellos had RWB which people seem to hate (I actually like this years design) while Optic cellos have Blue velocity which are actually pretty cool. Plus in my experience they have less inserts so you’re getting more shots at base and parallel RRs

That might be why it is expensive but you get more cards then a hobby box - 10 more and for over a 100 dollars less.

Likely because its not the favored version of Optic and yes also not that much of a flip for the flippers. I believe these were around $350/375 at my LCS. I do agree that you get more cards per box, less of a price and can still hit some very high valued cards.

I agree! I like Optic better than Prizm. The Holo’s on Optic are exactly like Topps Chrome refractors and I very much miss Topps Chrome basketball!

Opened 7 cellos, 3 blasters, 2 megas.

Got 1 Zion base, 2 Ja base, KP Jr checkerboard, Zion my house silver, Zion my house purple.

Got a couple other checkerboards that are worthless. Few junk autos. No numbered cards.

Tons of rated rookies, though. As someone returning to collecting, I am not even sure what the value of the lot is or what to do with these.
