Votto is a great player, but about as exciting as watching paint dry.

Intellectually dishonest at best. Comparing 2 of the brightest, hottest, most talented young stars we’ve seen in years, to 2 old non-Stars ( Votto’s kinda’ a Star ) that never made it in the hobby —- and comparing them as equals

Every time I start attempting to keep sealed wax, I get bored and bust it all. Maybe I need to keep it at a friend's house or something.

Some amazing pics. Wish I could have kept some sealed boxes. Only thing I have been able to keep sealed are my Donruss factory sets

It can be tough having a ton of unopened around but that pales in comparison to how awesome it is to have it around. I've got 4 of those industrial shelving units you get from Lowe's filled with unopened packs/boxes/cases/factory sets.

Having a bad day? Just take 5 minutes and stare at those shelves. It's impossible to be in a bad mood when they're around. And what's great is when you've accumulated enough stuff that you don't remember every little thing you have. So you can poke your head around and see that old blaster you forgot you had or that stack of Update sets you thought you ripped but they're still factory sealed. It's truly just delightful.

Yeah, I break down and rip a few things every once in a while. But it's never much and I always have to go into my spreadsheet and adjust the inventory (and, heaven forbid, highlight the entry red if the total is now zero) and that usually kills the itch to rip for quite a while.

I don't collect unopened for what's inside the packs. I collect unopened for the unopened pieces themselves.

Very well put Arthur

Sometimes I go into my "card shop" (that's what my wife calls it) and just look through what I have.

Viewing this thread has already given me several ideas of boxes to hunt for on ebay.

and so the chase for unopened continues!

This is the way. Keeping a spreadsheet is very helpful as well!

its not his to open.

i think thats what you are "missing". you are looking at what could be in them. Wax Collectors are looking at them, IMAGINING what could be in them, and thats enough. leave the gambling to the gamblers

not sure if you follow NBA, but the 20/21 Donruss Hobby Boxes Pre-sale price started last week, $1,200.00

Box, not Case. Box.

Gamblers gotta gamble

Yeah, he isn't opening these. Selling sealed and letting somebody else open them is where the money is.

The funny thing is ..... how badly you’re embarrassing yourself, and you don’t even know it.

That Retail bowman prospects box you’re snickering at - I paid $1590 for last year - they are now about $8k

Here's my archives/fan favorites boxes. Topps started these in 2001 with 2 series. Then in 2002 they called it archives best years. In 2003 -2005 it was called fan favorites. 2001/2002 had 1 auto per. 2003-05 had 2 autos per. 2001 had a very impressive auto checklist but of course, all the big names were sp'd.

clocsta2323.... are you there? You seemed to be pretty engaged on this Subject, then disappeared when just a few fellow Wax KNOWLEDGEABLE Boardies challenged your Views .... ( obviously beginner views.. but you have to start somewhere! ) ~ BTW thank you for contributing

So, just so you know, if this is your 1st 2 years (my speculation) in the Hobby, we are happy to help educate you
