I’m not saying it’s right or wrong, though I admittedly lean towards wrong. I just think there’s probably a large number of folks who have no idea that’s the case. Also, I think there are obvious reasons that this is substantially different than a CEO owning stock in his own company.

I completely agree. There was still plenty of undercutting going on but nothing to drastically change the landscape of the market. Everything slowly rose and that’s what’s supposed to happen with an influx of new customers. The timer is temporary but I would like to see it become permanent for a time after pack drops.

How in the world can you think this is good other than a bias stemming from a vested interest (which I have as well)? I’d like the market to go up just as much as the next guy, but not in this hoaky, manipulated manner.

That's one thing I'd wish they'd not do with the moments. Idk, holding out packs and therefore moments from the customers to give out for whatever reason they choose does seem wrong. I get they want to give Josh Hart a free pack for marketing purposes, but why don't they just pay him to market the product? Come out with a commercial or something idk.

Because I choose not to see it as market manipulation and for what it is: the only possible way we can currently have a market right now. Dapper is losing a TON of potential profit right now by limiting transactions. Saying this is manipulation is certainly your right but I just don’t see it that way.

Would prices be at where they are at right now if transactions were running normally? If yes, then you have no issues. If no, then the prices are manipulated, artificial, or whatever else you would like to call it. Just because they’re manipulated doesn’t mean it’s malicious. And the correct answer to the above is no, we would still be trending downward without restrictions.

They are trying to improve the MP for all of us to have a good experience, not everybody is at you trying to scam you!
We are in BETA and as such this changes and stops are totally normal and expected and TBH welcome too.

If you see it that way now, there isn’t a whole lot they can do at this point to change your perspective. And that’s fine. I wouldn’t blame you for taking out your money and putting your money where you have more peace of mind. Whatever you chose, best of luck.

Whether it’s a false sense of hope or not I believe this helps ease the mind of SOME doubters. Watching a Seeing Star moment plummet from $225 to $95 because people are scared and wanna make their $ fast sucked pretty bad. Now that moment has been steady around $130 since the MP opened back up. Slow seems to be good for the time being lol.

It's not like it's something hidden from the public. Staff was actively buying and opening packs at the start of the project to test what they made. Since prices went up they aren't allowed to buy/sell and buy packs. Roham has mentioned before he's willing to auction of his moments for charity or put a hold on his moments indefinitely if that made the community feel better.

Just snagged a S1 McCollum for 308, surprised a star like him is so low for S1. Plus it's a dunk

Thanks for posting. I’d recommend this guy to anyone. He breaks down complicated subjects into layman’s terms for dummies like myself. What a weird world.

The MP seems like a slow and steady rise.

Yes I do believe the prices would end up where they are right now, it may have just taken a little longer for the buyers to catch up with all the selling pressure but we are on our way to getting towards fair value. The only time the market is fair is when pack pulled moments have been flushed through the market. A lot of pack buyers don't know how to value their moments, all they know is they bought a pack for $14 so if they can get $200 for it they are happy, this leads to an unfair representation of the market, until someone owns it that can actually determine a value for it.

Why are you assuming they don't know how to value their moments? If someone wants to sell something at a really low price to sell it really quick why should that be prevented?

Free market is more important and longer lasting than artificially propping one up.

If a fully open market creates a race to the bottom that should tell you what you need to know about the user base and the market as a whole.

It creates a temporary race to the bottom and then the market takes off because exactly what I said happens ends up happening.

There is no assuming, it is a fact that a % of pack buyers don't know what they are doing, all they know is packs equal free money. The % of pack buyers that represent that is up for debate but I think it is pretty significant.

Giving people 100%+ returns right off the bat is what leads to downward manipulation. They are happy taking whatever they can get. They don't care what it is actually worth. Then enough actual buyers come in and hold on to it and it starts to take off.

Exactly, if someone wants to "fire-sale" their moments, why not let them?

You guys are missing the X factor with pack prices. If packs were priced above expected value this market would behave completely different after packs are released.

So what? This describes literally every market on Earth. Why should knowing what you're doing be some sort of requirement?

How is it manipulation if people are willing to sell moments at a price? Nobody is forcing anyone to sell at any price

Who's the ultimate authority on what moments are "worth" anyways? Only someone who makes sure they go up, right?

To be clear, there most likely will be a "moments" market in the future. However, to the extent there is a real market for it is yet to be seen. Two points to consider if you are thinking about entering this market:

1. FLOW Blockchain was, by nature, created to give owners control and to be autonomous from regulation. Yet, TS won't allow sales outside of their site. So, these moments should not be considered Blockchain at all since TS actually OWNS them, not the collector. It is actually the antithesis of why this technology was created. So when will they turn over ownership to the collector?

2. Who are the collectors, exactly? It's cool that people are making money and even the detractors would not say otherwise, however, is there really a market? For every one post looking to buy a moment there are fifty asking for value so they can sell. I'm just not seeing a collector base that is large enough to hold up hundreds of millions of dollars in valuation.

The fair market is the ultimate authority which is what we see after all the pack pulled moments are flushed out.

I don't know how this is so hard for you guys to understand. If pack prices were above expected value do you think we still see these fire sales? No chance.
