While I appreciate the character you're showing in doing that, there's just no way that will happen broadly. It's just not how markets work. Product has to be allocated among people who want it somehow - if it's not price, it has to be the retailers that do it, and they're clearly getting tired of it. Long term, it would be better for the MSRP of the retail products to go up, so long as the manufacturers were ready to cut them if demand slackened.

The MSRP of retail is at the upper limit that I'm willing to pay at this point. The only thing keeping me in the hobby now is occasionally being able to find Retail at current MSRP. If that goes up then I'm out.

Probably. Buy psa likes money, so it will come back some how. Maybe $25-30. But too much money to say we are done with it completely.

FYI--
The prices of the Bowman Mega boxes are dropping rapidly today on the secondary market. A set of 4 boxes was $250 on StockX yesterday. After this morning's big online drop from Target I just got 4 boxes for $205. That's a 20% drop in 16 hours. Ebay should be the same way....

Just offering advice. I follow this stuff way too closely to admit it to my friends and family.

That is a good sign and if and when there are future releases should help to keep stock available for collectors since may not be enough of a profit margin for bots.

I’m not sure I would count on this price move to be anything more than the usual cycle in prices that we’ve seen with recent product launches.

Not a bad buy at ~$50 though. Even if I’ve had better luck with the blasters so far.

I’m really curious why we haven’t seen price increases on some product lines yet. I imagine the vendor agreements/contracts must be a factor. But I don’t see why chrome products don’t carry a retail 2-3x where they’re at today. Sure it wouldn’t weed out all of the resellers but the lower margins would certainly deter some.

The Panini VP was interviewed recently and I guess he said chrome product blasters will see a price increase by September-ish, but supposedly they will only be bumped to $29.99

They had to shut down because of it.

Cheap bulk isn’t coming back. They like money, but they are losing money right now.

According to DJ, sounds like Target is trying to come up with a plan to continue selling in-store and they're gonna test some Poke first.

Also talks about the price increase i mentioned a few posts back. Thus far, sounds like minor stuff. Chrome blasters going to $29.99, still will be meat on the bones to not really affect much.

Over or under 2% of people buying basketball or football retail product in stores open the product for themselves? 18 months ago at least 95% of the people buying retail were opening it.

Never like it was. Not $10-12 bulk. But there will be $25-30 something like that eventually.

Interesting. Panini doesn’t print Pokémon do they? I could see execs from topps, panini and Pokémon collaborating to address this issue, but I wonder how target feels about DJ going out and openly discussing future plans before they’ve had a chance to announce anything.

$29.99 isnt aggressive enough. I would love to see them jump to at least $50 on blasters. Take a page from topps’ book and throw in some $20 coupons if they are actually afraid the product wouldn’t still sell out day one. And just be ready to react when the market stabilizes.

No retail blaster is worth $30, nevermind $50, regardless of what some idiots will pay for them.

For context, that was in regards to chrome products. Although I do think most paper could see a bump to $30.

And I wasn’t suggesting any of it is worth $30 or $50. Just throwing out a prices that could help with the current flipper situation.

What are they worth then? How do you define their "worth" in a way other than what people will pay for them?

Well if you want to go the other way most new product isn't even worth MSRP. What hobby or retail product on average without grading are you getting back cards worth more than the MSRP of the box? So they certainly aren't worth the sometimes up to 10 times MSRP people are paying for the sealed wax.

Losing money and lost revenue are two very different things. One implies no profit, the other implies less profit.
