Say you bought the card for a price it hasn’t been since probably early 2000s. If ever.

Tell us not to check eBay for reference.

Cool story.

This x 100!

For every one of the these success stories you have the bad ones of a altered card or lower grade and should have just left alone. It’s very risky crossing a BGS to PSA with PSA being far more strict.

OP has reached out to me and wanted me to forward this message to everyone.. "My mistake coming here for help... I should have just waited to hear back from PSA. Myself and PSA have communicated, and the matter is resolved. Nothing left to see here... move on"

It’s a lot less risky when it never actually happened.

Cracked a Zion Prizm bass PSA 9, sent to BGS, gold label 10.

It's all a scam.

This is why grading is a scam. One grader’s 8.5 is another’s 10. There is some value in grading and authentication but certainly not the premium that people pay especially for a PSA 10

To safely crack out from a BGS holder, gotta have guts. Whatever the time frame, congrats. First time I tried cracking a new PSA case I messed up the card, ugh.

No it’s a scam for the reasons I stated. Several companies with different standards. It is controlled by individual humans with different standards and opinions. Certain companies have a history of grading fake and trimmed cards and authenticating them and giving them better grades based on altered condition. There is human error and greed involved. Many PSA 9 sell for 20-30% of the price of PSA 10 when that PSA 9 might be a 10 on another day/different grader and vice versa.

They're not. There are many 90s refractors with print lines that were graded gem mint by PSA -- BGS gives an 8.5 surface grade for cards with print lines.

People are paying huge premiums for objective opinions given by people who are grading in a subjective manner.

The subjectivity factor based on the grader - good day/bad day - getting a PSA 9 vs. 10 can be hard to accept.

I am sure has been covered before, but to crack out a significant number of PSA 9's (which you originally thought were 10's) and resubmit, what % come back 10's on the second time go-around ? I have just always accepted the 9's are 9's for a reason and my resubmit 10 rate wouldn't be that good.
