No. Actual ticket collectors are the one's currently holding the inventory and stand to gain the most. If it hurts anyone, it will hurt the people (sheeple?) that see posts like that and decide to become "actual ticket collectors" today...

Unlike cards which keep getting made and keep coming out with higher prices (manipulated as that may be), tickets are going the opposite direction and are being printed less and less, until eventually everywhere is mobile. Completely different long-term market dynamics.

Do you see how this stuff forces certain people to look at their collections more as inventory though? It’s not always desired.

How on earth is Elon Musk a fraud?

Built a $1 Trillion mkt cap EV car company from scratch, now sending rockets into space and hoping to colonize Mars. He's failed at some things but that's business, not 'fraud.'

Sure, he likes triggering the SEC with humorous tweets, but that's mostly the SEC's fault for pearl-clutching while they let real, massive frauds like Madoff go undetected for decades even as Markopolous was sending them the evidence for almost as long.

Not really sure if elon built Tesla from scratch. He marketed the idea of other men .

Usually, people that invent are not rich. The people that are ruthless marketers make money.

Elon has a gift of "talk" and using other people.

I think people should start hoarding old newspapers and magazines since they don’t print those anymore either. No more supply = higher future prices, right?

There’s tons of undervalued items out there - ones you guys don’t grade - but tickets are not one of them.

For those who collect tickets for fun, more power to you

Tickets are cool 'oddballs', but become quite boring when douchebags like Darren Rovell pum up their value

That assumes that ticket collectors are also ready to sell, if they just enjoy the simple fun of collecting tickets, then they're screwed as prices get shot into the next galaxy over.

The same thing was said about cards and now most collectors are effectively priced out as some predicted.

Now that we have you here, what is the impetus for your prediction? Tickets and type 1 photographs? I've never even heard of a type 1 photograph until this thread.

This increasingly continues to be made out as if it’s some myth.

Oh definitely, I left “tickets” unbolded intentionally.

Hoping to hit paydirt on my '89 Right Said Fred Iowa State Fair XRC 3. Pop 1. Nunn graded lower.

Keep pumping the good fight, Natty.

The fact that Nat appears to be pivoting is telling in and of itself.

While I understand the skepticism of the current spike in prices on graded tickets, there are some real telling quotes in here like, "Nat's pumping them now because PSA just started grading tickets." and "I never heard of a Type 1 photo until this thread." It just goes to show how uninformed people are to the collectibles market as a whole. How can you be SO upset about the price of tickets and photos when you never even knew they were collectibles until March of 2022? People have been collecting these for decades!

Anyway, are tickets and photographs being pumped? Yeah. But, believe it or not, there are collectors out there who have been doing this for decades-plus (raises hand) and enjoy collecting something other than cards. Back in the early 2010's, it was my goal to collect the entire run of the Milwaukee Braves' 1957 World Series full tickets. Finding the stubs is a difficult enough task. Full tickets? Super tough. It was one of the most rewarding collections I was able to assemble (photo below).

I've also owned two of the six PSA 8 Kobe 81-point game full tickets (I still have one), which are super tough.

To be honest, I'd sell my entire collection for an April 15th, 1947 Jackie Robinson debut ticket stub, and would love to have a shot again at Tupac's personal ticket stub from the 1996 Tyson/Seldon fight the night he was murdered in Vegas. Goldin sold that ticket years ago for $24k.

Have pumpers come into this section of the hobby? Absolutely, but there are actual collectors that have been here for years, and believe it or not, there are new entrants into this sector who want to collect something other than cards. There's no need to get so upset about it.

Just curious why your stance on up-charges changed? Seems like since you bought PSA -- I've been forced to grab my ankles a lot more often. You seemed to disagree with the forced ankle grab from PSA -- not that long ago.

Pivot to hype man. When has he ever hyped a next “big thing”? His thing has always been that he’s a collector.

No disagreement there. Some of the stuff I've seen on IG is vomit inducing. The advanced level of groveling is pathetic.
