If you had GUARANTEED me a 35% return when the boxes were live, I likely would have taken it. As it took two days to sell out while people here refused to scoop up every last box they could, clearly the consensus was that it was not a guarantee.

How many cases did you buy?

I think most people maxed out their topps accounts and had placed large orders at the NYC store. This product was not well advertised. It sold out fairly quickly after the actual topps instagram posted about them. They didn't even make the topps email on day one.

Agree!. This one was low hanging fruit. For me it was, buy some boxes and let it pay for a quick Disney cruise for the family for the holidays.

Rare wax opportunity these days heading into 2023.

Your reputation is only as good as your word here. Before commenting on another's reputation here, you might want to reflect on your own.

Many will view your opinions with skepticism from now on as your comments only serve to push your own financial interests. Thank you for speaking on behalf of everyone! Strangely, not all of my comments are even about wax. Are you making another fraudulent serious accusation?!

As I’ve started before, I prefer that people who make comments disclose their investment holdings so that people can make their own decisions about how valid another member’s opinions are. I disclosed my position.

People can clearly see you are biased here. I'm absolutely biased. I loaded up on this product because it had winner written all over it. I shared my excitement (and encouraged others to load up at MSRP) because such opportunities rarely exist these days. At $100 per, it's still a winner. Remember, people bought 2022 TC hobby lite boxes (myself included) at $110-$120 shipped (per box) from Topps.com

As for sharing breaks, please see the basketball card section, I’ve pulled a nice card recently. I’m not spamming, I’ve already moved it to a buddy of mine who’s a fan. Congratulations, you ripped a single box! I'm confused, you already moved the card? I thought you were a collector, I never took you for a flipper boi!
See bold!

In the time it took to sell out, you could have ordered multiple cases from the NYC store. And my question at the time was, if it’s such a no brainer, why don’t you order more while it’s still available? Why not spend $10-20k and buy 5-10 cases?

I ended up with 70 boxes, which was outside my comfort zone, but now wish I got more. In the back of my mind I knew this was a great buy after seeing the first few boxes, but there is always that self doubt that creeps in when spending more than your usually comfortable with.

How much advertising does anything need these days? It only takes a well-timed tweet to get things off and running. However it was still available to order on Topps.com the day boxes made it into the email.

I've always found it interesting that people use the worst wax platform to support their argument.

I bought a little more than 4 cases worth of wax (166 boxes). Even though it was a no-brainer, I still felt quite uncomfortable spending so much on cardboard (prior to this, I think the most that I've ever spent on a card/wax was ~$4600 for a LeBron James RC).

Advertising definitely helps, there's still a lot of people who don't know about the product.

I feel like Step In The Box generated more demand for the product than Topps.

Dont know if you caught it, but thus far best hits were a Witt SP, Arenado to 50, wander logo, and a purple pujols.

Why was it uncomfortable if it was a no brainer huge return? Maybe it’s that it wasn’t actually a no brainer, and nothing is guaranteed?

Easy in hindsight to say it was a no brainer. Like I said while they were still available, in a world of declining equities, it made no sense to pass up profit if you felt it was a guarantee.

I'll say one thing, I think One & One has one of the best looking base cards out there. Not to mention, the chase cards (e.g., Timeless Moments, Downtown, etc).
May have been a little higher at one point but didn't break 2k I think, and of course since taken an inevitable dump along with other 19/20 basketball. You said you went big on Hoops premium.. ouch. Looks like you really needed the logofractor win.

Btw, my one box break costs more than a sealed case of topps chrome logofractor, don’t forget about that.

We have officially wondered into a financial D Measuring contest over Logofractors.

This was a no-brainer. Get over it and get back to telling the new collectors to get off your lawn.

Yeah, 2019-20 basketball wax prices have come down a lot. I've been tempted to pick up a couple boxes for personal rips and/or PC but the good stuff is still pricey.

Haha, 2019-20 HPS retail was a rough one. I made out really good with the pulsar sets but those gains were wiped away by my blaster/mega box losses (which I bought via secondary market). So I took an overall loss on that play and didn't add any "free" PC cards/wax to the collection.

I won't be ripping a lot but I'll definitely share my breaks (as I always do).

What's with the cognitive dissonance? You constantly complain about overpriced wax yet you spent so much on a NT basketball hobby box. You're a very strange person.

For what it's worth, I'm genuinely happy that you hit such a monster card though. I don't ever wish for BO members to get destroyed on breaks, regardless of the back-and-forth arguments. I'm a little shocked that you sold it though, you didn't strike me (at least based on your comments) as a flipperboi.

Would weighing them help? I guess for the #'d cards... but I can't see you being able to weight for a Julio as he would weigh the same as the other ones wouldn't he?

I sell everything I don’t want to keep in a break. That’s not flipping, that’s gambling and recouping costs. I didn’t try to shop or pump the card, just sharing my good fortune. I was going to keep it, but a good friend of mine is a big fan so I let it go. Now I have more funds to open more wax as well.

I told you before I’m a treasure hunter. There’s really nothing I would keep in my PC in topps chrome this year, or any year for that matter, so I don’t really break the product often. I like on card auto patches.

I find the higher end products have better yield for the price with less bulk to deal with, all my best pulls have been from high end products. It’s really tough to pull something good out of a mass produced product like topps chrome.

Cost of wax is all relative, isn’t it?

Save some face and just stop posting in this thread.

It looks childish to go from saying the product would be a flop and not resell well, to, making $750 on a case isn't worth the risk for you, to now trying to shame people for not buying enough.

We are all wrong on here from time to time, it's not a big deal. I'm sure you've been spot on alot of products or singles, this one you just happened to miss the mark, it happens. No need to make it look like your ego can't handle that.
