I agree his defense has improved, but still has -0.6 dWAR. Same as Goldy though, so there's that.

They also said Josh Hader was the best reliever in the NL, so...

Five D'backs plus one former D'back on this list. That's crazy to me.

Daulton Varsho is an interesting case. He has improved immensely since he first started playing in the OF and his OAA is off the charts, but he still makes too many bone headed plays.

The fact that mediocre David Peralta is on the list (and already has a GG) makes me wonder if it's a park factor or if these guys have somehow figured out how to game the system?

Thomas is legit though. I expect next year the D'backs have a finalist for all three OF positions with the addition of Corbin Carroll in LF.

AL Pitcher: I really don't have an opinion
AL 2B: Slight lean to Gimenez over Schoop, Semien a distance third.
AL 3B: Big gap between Urias and Ramirez/Chapman
AL LF: Kwan running away, no one else in the stratosphere
AL CF: Jose Siri should've been a finalist over Mullins; I'd probably pick Straw over Taylor looking at the numbers, but both are deserving.
Pretty cool to see this level of respect. Clearly the league is impressed with the Guardians defense.

Hoping Berrios gets it, he's been deserving for a few years now. Not really sure how Arraez is a finalist, but we'll take it!

He really only had 9. Remember when his glove decided to fall apart? haha I'm kidding. I don't even know if they ruled that an error.

Unless Arenado and McMahon removed their gloves while the ball was in play to get some sunflower seeds, they should not get the golden glove over Hayes.

That’s balls, talent and hubris all jumbled up. Probably with other things too.

The fact that manny isn’t even a finalist is ridiculous

He had a negative DRS, RngR, and UZR while also trailing the three NL finalists in outs above average and dWAR. I've always liked Manny, but his metrics don't hold up to the other guys that are finalists in the NL.

dWAR for 1st base is meaningless when rating a 1st baseman's defense. Vlad has definitely been great at 1st this year, but I don't think there any way Rizzo isn't the winner.

Soto also was pretty great in RF this year. I think he led the league in putouts. But this is 100% Betts' gold glove. He was insane out there.

I hope Ha-Seong Kim gets the Glove!

Imagine he was not even suppose to play there most of the time but Fernando had to Nando.

Great year for him!

I’m generally not a fan of WAR, and my opinion is even lower for dWAR. The way it’s calculated, or adjusted, nearly all first basemen end up with a negative dWAR. That alone is misleading.

Heck, Keith Hernandez was a wizard at first, and he had a career 0.6 dWAR.

Seriously out of a whole list of bad candidates Soto is by far the worst. He was last in outs above average.

Gold Gloves are one of the few awards where the decision is largely based on manager/coaches votes. I feel some of the more "old school" ones ignore the sabermetrics and vote with reputation or even side on cronyism.
