I feel like Houston is right in the middle of the two extremes being described. Can definitely find Optic, maybs Prism a bit more sporadically.
Not a ton of it just sitting there but also not a line waiting to get it.

A tray of update hangers at nearby Walmart with limits was still there the next day hardly touched. I've only seen guys dragging in the entire family for pokemon.

There is going to be SOME variance by region, but at my local targets the shelf will be completely empty by the next week. At walmart where it’s a little more expensive (and locked up) there is a little more selection that sits all week but still none of the top tier products.

I’ll add football still sells out instantly. basketball’s problem is as a sport it’s just nowhere near as popular as football right now, and no one wants to chase this rookie class.

i am saying that i don’t believe it sits on a store shelf for weeks. i guess i could take your word for it or i could take the word of the excell vendor who posted here. if you want to go take a picture of it on the shelf for 7 straight days i’ll admit i was wrong.

Either way your position was that panini killed retail basketball when football is still insta selling out. sounds like a bigger issue than panini.

as far as online they are still figuring out how to balance in store vs online where we went like 18 months with no prizm in stores. every week they move stock off .com and ship it to store and it sells out. same thing happened with bowman megas. they sat online for months but every week sold out within a day in store. people more or less have stopped buying from .com when it’s available in store and target shipping is taking up to 2 weeks.

Unless it's a product that disappears within minutes online, buying in store is worth searching around as you avoid damaged shipments and shorted orders, both of which aren't exactly rare when it comes to Target/Excell.

Agree. plus the shipping takes forever. they used to ship the same day you placed your order, it’s not uncommon now for it to ship a week after you purchase.

It’s crazy, i don’t know what, for maybe 2 years I was getting up at 4am PST to hit target online drops and just now looking back at my purchase history the only thing I’ve bought from target.com since August 1 was merlin and scc soccer megas.

Over the last couple weeks I’ve left everything i’ve seen in store other than the update hangers. Leaving prizm megas to buy update hangers. what a world. basketball retail is going to be tough until wembanyama has cards.

I stoped buying at target. Barns and noble is where I go, with 10% off and no limits anymore, best place to buy cards. Football and basketball are done no good sets are coming out. Prizm wc, and tcu will be the last big sets

It certainly does vary. But three years ago this was not happening. You certainly could not find it on Target.com whenever you wanted to.

Prizm and Optic were good retail products. Cheap, decent parallels, a few fun inserts, and good quality that led to easy gems. Today, it’s expensive, people don’t care about the retail parallels the way they used to, and the quality is total crap. Bottom line, they want more for a lesser product. That doesn’t work. I get Panini is about to be forced out of the market, and probably doesn’t care much. But it’s the same story for Fanatics right now. You can’t 10x the market if you don’t put out a good product.

Did B&N have TCU last year? I thought that was a Target exclusive but wasn't buying 2021 TCU last year.

B&N did indeed have the TCU megas last year $49.99 same price

Chrome Update isnt necessarily a Target "exclusive" so much that its only distributed by Excel and Barnes utilizes Excel distributing

I think they could drop at anytime. Those items aren't exactly the "high demand" types they save for the routine morning drops.
