It will only get worse. All companies usually start out good sucking people in but Fanatics is starting so I think it will only get worse.

How so? Non-Fanatics sponsored breakers and most distributors have had their allocations cut out. How can they be rich if they don't have product?

Show me, ANYWHERE, where I emphatically-state (even, "suggest"!!) that breakers will/do get...."special treatment", from Fanatics!? I'll clue ya' in, friend; NOWHERE! I was merely attempting to convey that, "profitability wise",...hobby-wise,...from strictly, a dollar & cents, sense, that there's apparently no "trickle down"...to klectors! The "value", per se...is evidently, primarily being gobbled-up by Fanatics,...with a lil' bit o' scraps remaining for [big(ger)] breakers,....and for the Average Joe (keyword: average) they can look forward to getting their Wedding Night Gear,....KICKED IN,...with virtually little-to-no chance of coming out ahead. Granted, I'm not implying that 99% of boxes/cases were "winners" before Fanatics' takeover. Not at all! But conversely, you can bet your arse that the LOSER boxes/cases (cost vs. price vs. return ~ long term value) are going to be FAR MORE prevalent than they've ever been, historically!

Seems like they're trying to become something of a governing body.

An all consuming corporate conglomerate heck bent on sterilizing and standardizing card collecting in the name of maximizing profit.

Want to bring everyone to heel and get a piece of as many transactions as they can.

I imagine they envision a future where anytime money is transacted on cards they collect a Fanatics tax.

The National: A Fanatics™ Event.

Your Local Card Show: A Fanatics™ Event

COMC: A Fanatics™ Corporation

Blowout Cards (and forums): A Subsidiary of Fanatics™

(Insert your favorite Podcast or YouTube Channel): Sponsored by Fanatics™ to deliver Fanatics™ sanctioned information

Ebay Cards: A Fanatics™ Partnership

and on and on and on until "The Hobby" is officially what the powers that be want it to truly be: A Business.

One thing I've learned is that a good majority of members here are businesses themselves so I'd imagine this would be a pretty bias thread.

But I will fill in the blank, just as a collector today.

I remember taking cardboard with pictures of women seriously growing up.

I am one of those members and I don't have a single issue with Fanatics, nor have I had many issues with Topps/Panini/breakers/etc. in general. I'm also pretty high up the chain at my day job so I have an appreciation for the ups and downs of any business.

What I've noticed over my 13 years or so in cards specifically is the best business owners I have ever dealt with were the calmest and most easy going. One of them told me years ago "You gotta zig when the other guys zag". You look at some of the others who have a YouTube presence...the guys at Chasing Cardboard, One Million Cubs, Cardcollector2...all cool as a cucumber. The hobby could be in flames (cue up the This Is Fine meme) and they would figure out how to survive it and move forward.

In fact, some of the most admirable business owners I personally deal with in this hobby don't even come to forums like these. They are too busy running a business to argue with people here and they damn sure don't want to go out of business. So they figure it out. Again, and again, and again.

I get a TON of heat for being the optimistic one on these forums, but I also get a lot of compliments. Some folks get way too upset and angry and sarcastic over stuff when they could just chill and deal with whatever is in front of them.

Unless I'm dead, I'll still be here 20 years from now, with a smile on my face, running my business. I'll have bad years, I'll have good years, and everything in between, but I promise you no card company is going to ruin my life or take away my ability to run a card business. There is a always a way. People just need to relax and figure it out.

Ok...have been busting Topps packs and boxes since 1971. I also bought packs/boxes from Fleer and Upper Deck.

I stayed away from Panini when they started to raise the price of Prizm over $200.

Now I see the same trend. They will cater to breakers and will try to maximize profits very fast to make up for the lost profit and interest of buying lisenses.
