Question is if upper management neglected/mismanaged/not invested into the brand for last 15 years, what's the likely hood that they will actually make investments to their brand now? Highly doubtful...
BGS will either fold or get bought out. |

Good riddance, Jeromy! Beckett should have fired him years ago.

Only one side of the story so far, but as it deals with the horrible Beckett website, the planned updates (still unfinished), employees getting fired.... thought this would be a good thread to share the story.
Full recap from Paul Lesko can be viewed on twitter (X) but thought I would share some interesting highlights. https://x.com/Paul_Lesko/status/1705...894175356?s=20

Wow! What a dumpster fire Beckett has become! So sad. They used to be #2, legitimately, and they were a respected hobby leader if not pioneer. Can they reorganize and get some credibility back? Personally, I feel the answer is yes, and I hope to see it. Would be a fun progression to follow, at least.

Adding to this thread, I thought there were some pretty interesting allegations in the newest Beckett lawsuit. This one is related to the previously discussed Beckett Collect/Noxx (Beckett "improvements") and among other things, it's alleged that Beckett only received $500k of the $100 raised for improvements. Also suggests that Beckett was/is for sale.
Also thought it was interesting to see a couple former NBA players (Chris Mullin and Grant Hill) appear to have also been investors in the Noxx company that Beckett acquired. Good video breaking down some highlights.

Some more documents of interest have been uploaded post summary judgment. https://www.courtlistener.com/docket...lectibles-llc/ and that should be the end of proceedings for the time being, at least on this case.

In Beckett's response to the Noxx claims, they included a funny note about their business licensee. Oops.

I have never graded with BGS before but am thinking about sending them a couple of things. Do they have a minimum grade like PSA does where you can request that the card only be slabbed if it is a 9.5, for example?

Yes. Put it on the form and a sticky note on the holder of the card. Fyi, PSA does not have a min grade option anymore.

Thought this was a good article on Beckett (quick read). Even includes a link to a blowout thread.

Not directly related to cards (focus is comics and some employees moving over to PSA) but thought this was a fun section about subgrades.

Just saw long time BGS employee Charles at the Philly Show with a PSA shirt on! End of an era at BGS! Great guy for sure and happy that he was able to move on to PSA 5 months ago.
BGS lost a great ambassador! All the best to him! Just weird seeing him in PSA gear! Lol |

Can anyone tell me what the point of a BGS rep is? Like, what do they do?
One emailed me to introduce themselves but I'm not sure what their purpose is. |

Non-competes at the grader level are unenforceable at this point. The industry is too small and the language in these are too overreaching and unreasonable given the landscape.
PSA has deep pockets, if they wanna pay up. They'll get the graders. |

Except the one year price is $349, not $480 as the email claim. Since I last renewed, they added a non-specified rate limit to searches. Way to devalue your product, guys, I feel like the offer should've been a refund because at this rate in 2 years the domain would be up for sale. |

Their October 10th Special had me enticed, filled out form all the way to the end to the billing page, and it just kept erroring out and wouldn't take any of 4 payment method I tried. Wonder if they've been sitting there all day wonder why no one is taking it when their website won't take the payment.

Any feedback on BGS full cycle grading time for Standard Service?
They graded the cards in 5 days but have been on the "Labels" status for over a month now... About time for a ping. Just shocks me they are moving slow given the limited volume. |

Anyone know if BGS customer service ever actually follows up on emails? I had an order arrive on 10/30 with a hairline crack in one of the slabs. Emailed them immediately to ask if I could send back to have recased since it arrived damaged. Followed up on 11/5. Still no response.
I personally prefer BGS and keep giving them chances, but it’s getting harder and harder. Quality control seems to be a major issue. The inner sleeves constantly have scuffs and/or debris on them. I’m also pretty sure they damaged the edges on one of my high value cards recently before grading (which of course I can never prove). I try not to complain much, but a slab arriving fresh out of the FedEx package with a crack in it seemed like a legit opportunity to reach out with a request to have corrected. Both frustrating and somewhat comical I can’t get any type of response. I know they’ve plummeted in relevance and are probably short staffed, but I’m wondering if they are even around much longer. |
