Admittedly,...as an INDIVIDUAL, sometimes it's harder to...."be the bigger person". But collectively-speaking, seeing how it's been absolutely/unfortunately confirmed that Pete Rose has indeed, passed, the fact that MLB.com has FAILED to even dignify his passing with nary a "blip",...speaks VOLUMES, imo!

Disgustingly, SAD!!

It just feels wrong to have gambling shoved down my throat on every broadcast and not have him in the hall of fame. Rest easy Pete.

Yeah, he talked about fight club…

Plenty of questionable characters in the hall. Wish he would have gotten in before he died but it’s baseball so as others have said he had to die before it will be a consideration. Hopefully it happens soon……the ghost of Charlie will come sliding into the hall spikes up

Never. Even if he had a .0001% chance before that chance is even less now given how close gambling has gotten to the game.

Absolutely none of these even approach what Rose did to the game. Not even close.

As I said, what Rose did to the game was far worse than what those people did to the game.

It’s all about integrity of the game. One has to understand the word integrity to understand what Rose did was worse.

What if I told you that Ty Cobb wasn’t actually racist.

I could care less about the gambling, it’s the child rape that confirms him as one of the biggest scumbags in baseball history. But he should still be in the HOF

What exactly did he do to the game? The game is fine. If MLB folded in 1989 then you may have a point. But it didn't and you don't

Just wait until Beltran is put in the hall and he was one of the ring leaders of the trashcan losers.

Every single clubhouse in Major League Baseball has the following sign:

“Any player, umpire or club or league official or employee who shall bet any sum whatsoever upon any baseball game in connection with which the bettor has a duty to perform shall be declared permanently ineligible.’’

Please note it doesn't say "shall be declared permanently ineligible unless he is a really really great player and is popular with a large section of the fan base"

As I said, one must understand what the word integrity means and understand how to apply it to a situation.

Of course so many of these types of threads - gambling, steroids, etc. - that seem to pit people against one another always seem so fake, as if they really only exist to get people to post more or something…
