I think we are going to see a significant decrease in grading over the next 3-5 years again because at $18.99 a shot at PSA anything less than a 10 is a guaranteed loss and even some 10's you will just break even especially on regular run of the mill base Rc's. Last month was the first time in several years that grading across all companies ( PSA, SGC, Beckett , CGC ) all saw a negative double digit decline MOM in submissions overall as well as SGC, Beckett, and CGC seeing double digit losses MOM in Sports Cards with PSA coming in at a 9% loss. The only one of those 4 who have an overall YOY surplus is SGC at +28% everyone else including good ol PSA are in the red.

I buy raw all the time. I’m very picky about what I buy, and usually pay a little over comps for cards that appear to be in top condition. A lot of those become PSA 10’s. But buying raw is still a risky bet and about 1 out of 7 that I buy arrives with an undisclosed major ding, dent, or scratch and it drives me crazy. I hate it, but that’s the price you pay when you gamble with raw. So sometimes I buy graded if it matters to me and the price is right.

Went to a tiny show in Jackson, MS yesterday and it was a good time! Only about 20-30 tables but a good range of inventory and lots of kids buying and trading.

One kid (maybe 8 or 9) walked up and asked if I wanted to see his cards. Wasn't trying to trade or sell, just wanted to show off his collection! Made me smile
