If PSA's purpose is to eliminate competition and they will slowly let SGC and BGS die, it really comes across as short sighted. It's akin to McDonald's acquiring Burger King and Wendy's and deciding to let them die slowly. Hey moron! How about you reocgnize the fact that you acquired two established brands with large followings and build it up! You own them all so you benefit if they succeed.

The 89 UD Griffey is probably the greatest example of pop control by PSA ever. I could pull out thousands of PSA 9s that look identical to PSA 10s. It's all a scam. Can't believe this card is selling for almost $5k. It was selling for under $2k just about a year ago.

Random note: Beckett publishes a variety of magazines. One was "Non-Sport Update" (cards like Marvel & Star Wars, not CCG). NSU Magazine was cancelled last month (right before Beckett was acquired by PSA).

It's possible to assume that PSA was interested in the magazine operation (not just the card grading) and was refining the magazine position before the acquisition.

I’ll never quit the card business, I quit eBay. I still buy with that ID but I haven’t sold a card on eBay in years.

Good catch, thanks. The % I quoted was the total 1989 Upper Deck set. My eyes looked at the line above.

Ah, fair. No idea about that. I started using them for sports a couple of months ago and found the results to be fair. Sure, sometimes I think, that should have graded higher but that's always going to be the case. And sometimes you get a pleasant surprise, but overall, the numbers end up being what I'd expect.

Exactly.....when you're talking about differences in card condition that are largely invisible to the naked eye, there is no way to be consistently objective.

And that's why many collectors don't pay any attention to card grades....they know that they're subjective.

In all seriousness.....seems like a no brainer for PSA. BGS lost A TON of customers over the past few years and maybe (like a big maybe) PSA will help turn that around for BGS fans.

Doubt PSA would do that for collectors unless it makes sense financially.
