The goal here isn’t to collect fees — it’s to change how buyers place orders on Sportlots.

The $1.50 Minimum Value Fee is meant to discourage lots of tiny, single-seller orders and encourage fewer, multi-seller orders instead. When buyers combine sellers and get their total over $5.00, the fee goes away and the PayPal $0.49 transaction fee is split across all sellers involved, which significantly lowers the cost per seller.

If buyers still prefer small, single-seller orders, they can completely avoid the fee by adding credit to their Sportlots account (My Account → Add Credit). The minimum deposit is $25, and then they can use that credit for multiple small orders. In that case, the one $0.49 PayPal fee from the deposit gets spread across many orders and sellers.

If a buyer does choose to place a small order and pay the $1.50 fee (which has been pretty rare so far), we collect that fee and do not charge sellers any transaction fees on those orders.

Bottom line: sellers should no longer be seeing hefty transaction fees on small orders.

Also worth noting — the fee applies to the total order, not individual sellers. Your portion of an order might be under $5.00, but if the combined order total is over $5.00, the fee doesn’t apply and the PayPal transaction fee is split among all sellers in that order.

Hope this helps. If anything’s still unclear, just let me know.

Thanks

Sorry, no short term plans for this. But this is on the list to completely revamp this entire process. It just isn't high on the priority list right now.

Makes sense - a clear improvement. I'll watch to see what happens to my transaction fees.

On credit cards are we paying a flat percentage or is it a flat fee + percentage like Paypal?

Credit card fees are structured just like PayPal's, but the overall fees are lower with Credit Card.

Just starting to do an order. Playing around how to do it with the best deals for me. As I have a small budget each month for cards. I run across a seller that is on vacation with " anticipated return - 01/02/2025" Just wondering if it is worth looking at any more cards from him? He does have some good cards at a fair price that I need just do not want to waste more time and not buying from other members in the meantime.

My guess is they forgot to change the year and will be back 01/02/2026

It is awesome to see Sportlots active in this chat and helping their buyers and sellers. Perhaps a certain company based in Redmond, WA should take note.

Default Move All To Later Button

Added a new feature to the shopping cart that makes it easier if you have a ton of items from many sellers and just want to check out a small subset of sellers. This is the new "Move All" button.

Here is a quick 1 minute video to show you how it works.

I got the "Shopping Cart items Removed or Reduced" message today, evidently someone bought cards I was watching. Nice feature.

Were the cards from kbartell ?
I just got a message from Sportlots that he has passed away. Appears his wife will not be filling his orders.

Wow! Sad to hear, I know I bought from him a few times over the years. No, these were two cards of a particular player that probably got scooped up together.
Edit: I have two cards of his that are now in my Save For Later cart showing vacation through 12/31/2027. Still not the same ones from the message I got.

I'm having an issue with the new cart. I am a buyer in Canada but do shipments to both Canada and the US. I have always simply gone to my account profile and changed my address to suit where I wanted to ship. I would then go back to the cart and it would immediately update shipping options based on the new address.

I have added some cards to the cart now from a US seller that charges $99 to ship to Canada so I would prefer to ship to a friend's address in Washington State and he will bring them up next time he comes. I have US address set up in my profile. However, when I go to the Shipping Rates or Checkout areas, it is offering me only the shipping rates I would get with a Canadian address ($99 or Box, which I don't want to use).

I'm hoping the new cart can be fixed so I can switch back and forth as needed.

Yes, this is a known issue. If you toggle back and forth between US and Canada shipments, this causes an error with the current shopping cart. This is a bug fix on our list. We are hoping to have this corrected in a few days.

Are there any notification emails when a seller moves off being in vacation mode? Thanks.

No, sorry.. All items are moved back to the cart, but there is no notification. The concern with this is if a seller toggled back and forth (who knows why), it potentially would generate a ton of messages.

But something we could consider adding if there is a need for this.

Does anyone know seller Shaner18 on Sportlots? I’ve bought a lot from him before. Today I went to buy about 5 lower end cards from him. Went to check out and his budget shipping is $99.00! Not paying that. Maybe it’s a mistake? Is there any way to contact him?

He is like a couple of others that have their direct postage high and their Box postage low as they only want to ship to the Box. Not sure if he is one who ships like once every other week. A lot of orders in one package to the box with tracking. That way they do not have a lot of buyers stating they did not get their order. One big package vs a lot of PWE which ones could be lost by the PO?

I would like to see how often a seller sends to the box instead of waiting a long time.

$1.50 Minimum Value Fee? Really? That's New (I know its discussed above, but missed it) - guess to eBay for the low priced singles and set fillers...

He had just been in vacation mode and his shipping wasn't that high prior. I wonder if he forgot to change his shipping back. Messaged him because I have a ton of cards waiting. No response though.

I seem to recall a similar situation and he said he put the shipping high because he was behind on shipping out orders. Not sure how vacation mode works or why you wouldn't just leave that on.

Now that they have the Save for Later area. When they go on vacation their cards would be moved to Save for Later. If you had any of them in your cart or try to buy them. They cannot be moved to your cart and purchased.

The issue here is he raised his shipping to 99.99 on everything but the Box. Why allow order he would ship to the Box vs direct to you. If he is behind on shipping why allow BOX orders?

You can ask sellers questions. Not sure where you find the area to do that.

I recently received an order which was followed by a message from the buyer saying he’s requested the cancellation of the order. He said it’s about 100 cards, I’m guessing across many sellers. Can’t I just cancel the order on my end? It’s been sitting in my order queue for a couple days now.
