The problem is that they made ALL the top players SP's.

So nobody is going to build the set, because very few people are actually going to want the base sets.

What they should have done is to give everyone a base card, and then make the SP's some sort of themed variation (for example, top players in their National Team uniforms, or Black Chromes variations, or all horizontal pics, etc.).

Chronology also had Diamond Relics, Patch and Jersey cards.
SP legends is strictly based around the Autographs.

Hmmm.... Anyone would love this guy if he played on their team.
Can I assume you didn't watch much hockey in the 80s and 90s?
Or was Scottie mean and a bully to your guys?
Yep, I loved Stevens. He’s one of my PC guys. Just wish he hadn’t been taken away from St. Louis.

Bumping my old thread because just try finding sealed of this. It's basically gone. Another major site is PAYING $245 per box, and I remember when boxes were easily had for $150 or less. I figured epack would ruin this as a long term hold, but apparently not. How high does this go?

You should post pictures of the boxes and content.

Almost bid on the Jagr PSA 8 Die Cut auto that recently sold. Probably should have, went for under 200.

Nice cards, tough to hit in wax though. I don't expect the sealed to have much of a premium long term but some individual cards should.

Love the All time future watch auto /49 cards. I can see them carry momentum and long term value.

They have gone down A LOT since the few months after release.

I feel like it’s a set of cards that can pick up steam quicky and randomly. All time greats with on card autos with the Fwa vibe.

I think what will hamper its popularity is that the acetate set has more players than the auto set.

To be fair the rookie classes were trash at the time so it made a lot of sense to search for legends instead and it was also the first year which always gets buyers, and while no one believes it SP is actually Short-Printed.

If this came out Bedard's year I doubt it would be as hard to find as there wouldn't of been as much bought up initially for the reasons above.

I'd love to see them continue the ATFWA set, but not duplicate anyone that was in the previous set. It would also be hateful if they put out another set with a different design.

Tons of omissions from the first set, most notably would be Bobby Orr.

Are the acetates auto’ed and numbered?

Agreed. Definitely should not duplicate

No but the acetate set includes Richard, Beliveau, Plante, etc… which the auto set does not (mostly for obvious reasons). All very popular players with HOF/Legend collectors and 3 are Habs.

I think you may be forgetting that those players are also included in the regular non acetate future watch set as /199s as well. No different than any other FW set, having some autos and some non-autos. These are also included in the “black” parallel version as well.

You’re right. I did forget that.

The two most recent 16 boxes full masters apparently sold for over $12000US! I guess there really is almost none of this left. For those who bought in and held, you might want to liquidate at least some of your inventory, or enough to leave you freerolling on the rest.

Wow - nice thinly veiled accusation. I have the same small position I've had all along, but I am likely to sell some now. And I'm sorry - seeing the price of this more than double in the span of less than a year is not worthy of a follow up post? If nothing else, it raises the question about whether folks think that the something like Engrained Icons might have similar potential, despite no FWAs.
