It's a new type of stockholm syndrome that should be entered into the DSM-VI when it arrives. Cardboard victims that don't chastise those that literally stole money from them through alterations, but continue to praise them for doing so.

I'm just trying to stay hopeful that most collectors aren't risking getting taken a second time.

That was my first thought too. But no, it is definitely him buying. Here is another:

It's his prerogative. It's just shocking he's returned to buying from the company that was involved in allegedly defrauding him of so much money.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink...unless you're Brent Huigens (PWCC).

Maybe his refund was in PWCC gift cards? HEH

Even I stopped buying card from PWCC, I don't even add them to my watch list. I care more about NOT buying from PWCC, than I do about buying ANY card

PSA Cert #:26675879

1895 N300 Mayo's Cut Plug Charlie Ganzel PSA 5 MK to PSA 5
Alteration types: Recoloring
Set Registry status: None

Sold on 8/15/2015 as a PSA 5 MK by Memory Lane Inc. to an unknown buyer for $544.92
Consigned to PWCC and sold on 3/12/2017 as a PSA 5 for $730.00
Final price: $730.00
Value gain: $185.08

Two other altered 1895 Mayo's Cut Plug cards had been previously found in this PSA order. For those, see Post #4546 and also Post #4625 earlier in this thread. This card, too, is altered. First, I encircled in red the reason the card received an MK (mark) qualifier the first time it was graded. The PSA grader simply missed this mark upon regrading. More importantly, however, are the areas of the card I marked in blue. On the front, the bottom edge and bottom corners have been lightly retouched with black to minimize the wear. On the reverse, a small area of wear has also been retouched in black. Remember, the card doctor's goal is not to eliminate the wear (that would be too obvious), it is to minimize to improve the grade and thus get more money.

I came across this card while researching other cards.
It appears that the card was part of a two card submission to PSA.
The initial buyer and consignor are currently unknown.
The PSA 9 is trimmed at an angle at the bottom. The card is not even square.

PSA Cert #27471454

PSA Set Registry: private

1950 Bowman Tony Canadeo #9 - Population 1 of 7

Value gain of $5,070.00

This card was purchased by an unknown buyer from Huggins & Scott Auctions as a SGC 8.5 for $630.00 on May 05, 2017.
VCP snip:

Same card was sold by Robert Edwards Auctions as a PSA 9 for $5,700.00 on October 29, 2017.
VCP snip:

Yellow circles are print, fiber, or chipping identifiers.
Red box identifies a trimmed crooked bottom edge.

If PSA ever finds itself in court over this it's going to be tough to justify all the missed trimming--everything from the extremely small cards to poorly executed angular cuts like on the Canadeo. PSA can't claim they are the industry's leading experts AND they made honest mistakes on all the trimmed sh*t. They can't have it both ways. Either they are the most incompetent TPG in the universe (why are they even in business?) or they're complicit in the whole grading scandal.

Btw, that's a really nice Tony Canadeo rookie card (SGC 8.5) that was totally ruined. That PSA 9 is no better than a "good" condition card with serious defects, imo. It's singular acts like this that ruin the hobby.

Agreed, the SGC was much nicer.
The obvious to the eye angle cut not being noticed is telling in multiple ways.
Even by the buyer.

The buyers don't look past the flips.

As a SGC fan, this makes me very sad. The SGC was a fantastic card and no business being altered.

Yep! I was thinking the same thing. Maybe a 4 before that and then a crease
or two were removed and maybe some corner work and added color.

David Thorn currently owns the trimmed SGC 8 copy of this card, so be on the lookout for it in a PSA 9 slab shortly with the other edge trimmed.

Someone greedy and dishonest lost some money on that card, but as you point out, maybe David Thorn can recover some of it by reducing the size of some of his holdings.

It looks like SGC graders (I'm assuming there's more than one) have also misplaced their rulers. I think it speaks volumes that a large percent of fraud could be eliminated by doing something that a monkey could be trained to do.

This is just one of the many reasons this stuff will continue to happen.

To be honest with you, people like this deserve to be robbed and I dont feel bad for them at all.
