It's a cautionary tale about investing heavily in a young player, but I would hope everyone doing that knows the risk involved. Anyone dancing or talking trash has either not been humbled by this situation in their flipping/investing *yet* (because it will occur) or never had skin in the game to begin with.

And as a general baseball fan I hope the kid recovers from the injury and isn't out as long as predicted, but that definitely looked bad.

Hobby Momentum is gone, I just hope he’ll come back and will be the same.

Eh, I'm not too worried. Most of my Tatis stuff is stuck in PSA purgatory until later this year anyways. Just in time for the comeback hype.

I'm definitely buying firesales if anyone is interested.

Same. Cannot speak for everyone in here, but many or most of us were buying well before any decent jump in price, mostly in 2019.

Look, I am not an "investor" and never have been. I am a collector but not of Tatis. I do have some nice cards of him as I do so many other players. My main collection is White Sox and Frank Thomas. Was since I started collecting. I then heavily collected basketball and Shaq and Kobe. Sadly made the mistake of selling that back in 2006 as I lost interest and had a rough patch in life. Now looking back those are crazy priced legends I can never buy back the collection I had.

I at least kept my WHite Sox collection and Eloy got me interested in collecting again and is my new main PC. Well was as he got hurt and Luis Robert was the hot prospect so jumped over to him before he shot up in price at an insane level.

Bottom line is no matter if you collect or invest to sell to make money nobody wants to see anyone get hurt. If you do I guess I don't get it. I know those that say it makes a buying opportunity but I see it as lost time for my favorite players. I like pretty much any exciting player so don't want to see any player hurt not just for the hobby but for the game of baseball.

Injuries do however bring about concerns for long term value. Some will say they will be back and healthy and be fine but others, myself included, see the side where they end up being another hobby could have been.

Very much agree the lost time part a lot. I literally was drawn back into baseball because of Tatis for the most part. I loved watching games and highlights and grabbing his cards to connect. Stinks to not be able to see him play for a bit, he is what the game needed.

I hate seeing anyone get hurt, especially the young superstars. I don't have a real investment in Tatis Jr, just a small PC. The money doesn't matter to me in that respect, but I don't like anything that is bad for the game in general.
