I think the other thing is, why the four year mark is kind of a litmus, at that point there are other more hungry players entering the league with stronger motivation. So like it's not just that you cant make every play, its that you cant catch up with time.

That said, remarkable transformations have been accomplished. But rarely around the holidays, if a large family comes into the equation.

If you stripped his name away and just looked at the stats for this season, they don't paint a picture of an elite player. He's 67th in EPM, 76th in DPM, he's become a negative defender, a below average rebounder, etc...

AD, KD (if you consider him a PF), Lauri has been hurt half the season but I’d definitely rather have him over Zion right now, Sabonis as well. Sure neither of those guys are world beater defenders but they also offer other things other than paint scoring. Paul George and Kawhi are effectively PFs now, I’d take JJJ who’s not having a better season but I think offers more to a team than this Zion.

If we’re saying choose a best player for your team the only guy in that list who I wouldn’t pick over Zion would be JJJ who I think is a better complimentary player.

The thing about guys like Lauri, KD, and PG is that they’re versatile. They can play and guard multiple positions. Zion can’t play the 3 because he can’t defend any wing player and he can’t shoot.

We're not talking about peak. I would take all of those players over Zion, right now. (If we're looking at this season in a vacuum and not considering the future).

I even noted, if you would have wiped the anger sweat out of your eyes you would have seen, that I wouldn't take JJJ over Zion to be the best player on a team. JJJ has skills that make him a better complimentary player that can fit into more types of teams

Neither of those dudes has nearly the same gravity on the game that Zion does. And while they're both exceptional talents, they do not warrant nightly complete shifts in opposing defensive schemes.

That's what makes Z special. He's the most efficient/dominant paint meanderer since Shaq. Not even Yannis has his level of interior authority.

I'm just partial to guys who can shoot the 3 and think without that element no matter what you're capped to a degree

The bad side?: he's half the rebounder shaq was and defenses not even once.

Expect Duke Zion --> received Big 3 Zion. (which is still way above average, but could be so, so much better).
