That trimmed '58 Topps Clemente found by Corndog shows how this bad stuff just keeps circulating throughout the hobby. It sold through Probstein, then REA, then PWCC after PSA graded the trimmed card.

But the hobby has seen so much worse... Actually no. This is massive fraud with a publicly traded company at the heart of it.

Which is why there should be an "Altered Graded Card Registry" to protect potential buyers!

I'm sure Steve Sloan would be fast to retaliate if he know the names of who ran it!

That's about right. I've never known anyone in the industry quite as vindictive as the leadership at PSA, both past and present.

Correct... The false PSA assessment is the "gift that keeps on giving".

And who knows how many more times the card will change hands, given the flock of sheep who just relish that slab. That's exactly why PSA needs to be taken down by Law Enforcement, along the Doctors and Shady Dealers.

Otherwise, we'll never see an end to this. The evil triumvirate (Card Doctors, Corrupt Dealers, inept TPG) must be completely dismantled.

Martin-Sports on eBay has been trimming for over a decade. Just look at that PSA 9 100,000.00 Gretzky OPC RC they have listed.

Naturally the card will be cracked out of the slab and disappear for a little while. Next it will be submitted again or possibly sold raw, maybe at a show.

So, it will be helpful to have a central place to easily locate altered exemplars.

Yes. This is accurate. Jason Martin started out by buying uncut sheets, trimming them, and sending the cards to Beckett. Beckett was clueless, so they graded virtually all of what he sent. We're talking many thousands of cards. Then Jason Martin began to experiment with trimming and adding fake rough cuts like Moser. PSA has graded a lot of his hatchet jobs.

PSA Cert #:23684693

1952 Topps Look 'N See #105 Leonardo da Vinci PSA 7 to PSA 9
Alteration types: Trimming
Set Registry status: In a user's private Registry

Sold on 9/8/2013 as a PSA 7 by eBay seller boilerjake to whitman111 (Gary Moser's eBay ID) for $33.53
Consigned to PWCC and sold on 2/18/2015 as a PSA 9 for $898.89
Final price: $898.89
Value gain: $865.36

The eBay seller boilerjake did not provide a back photo, so I matched this card using the top border. The original factory cut is like a key; the match is perfect as you can see from the enlarged detail, thus confirming the PSA 7 purchased by whitman111 is the same card as the PSA 9 later sold by PWCC. Red boxes show the trimmed left and right borders. The blue circle shows a print mark common to both cards. This card was a PSA 9 Pop 1, with none higher. I am confident that it belongs to the owner of the #1 Registry Set for the '52 Topps Look 'N Sees.

Prices on slabs were strong with the exception of non-sports. Those listings went for less than expected, but I'm happy with the overall results.

Plan is just to keep listing 60 to 100 auctions a week till there isn't anything left worth selling - then it goes to the trash!

Never get cheated again!

All anyone has to do is take a look at his post history and it's clear as day that this isn't his first rodeo here. I don't know if he's a PBM or just someone's second account, but his post history certainly doesn't add up to someone who just discovered this site for the first time.

Meanwhile, I get accused daily of being a PBM by people who think it's impossible for a noob to discover the multi-quote button and ignore list features lol.

Beckett openly grades sheet cut cards. They'll tell you so.

But wait, what's the difference between a sheet cut card and a trimmed card?

Exactly. One of the reasons I don't buy Beckett graded cards (especially for issues that uncut sheets are readily available for, like 1990s and earlier).
