This product is awesome. It'll never be prizm or optic but in think this thread is proof it's become a staple in the basketball hobby. 2018-19 started it with it having retail formats. They've fine tuned it this year and it's insane. I think it could definitely overtake mosaic. But what do I know?

I remember when nobody wanted to touch this stuff in 2017-18 and I was ripping hobby boxes cheaper than current blaster prices.. Lol. I'm happy it's finally getting its due as a product. But sucks I have not been able to enjoy it!

If I recall in 2017-18 the format was kinda terrible. I never opened any, but weren't the majority of the cards the base chronicles set with a few of the different brands sprinkled in? I think that was the main complaint if I recall correctly.

Initially he thought he would have enough to let everyone have multiple blasters, fat packs, and at least one fat pack box. Nice to know the LCS are getting their retail chronicles in, here's hoping I get my pre-orders from March, closing in on the 180 day safety net.

Yeah it was hobby only and I didn’t like the format as much in 2017, compared to 2018 and 2019. It was only 3 packs per box with 15 cards per pack, and the base set was horizontal with an ugly (IMO) design.

I actually got an in-stock notification for blasters last night around 8PM (I think). There was also an in-stock notification for hangers this morning at 1AM. I've turned alerts off, it's just cruel to see them.

I wish this years edition had on-card autographs like in 2018, but the vet checklist and the addition of prizm update partially mitigates that.

As a collector, it doesn't get better than chronicles to me. On rip its basically 2/3 to 3/4 rookies and the remaining cards are superstars. The "worst" card you can get out of chronicles is.. a Jokic base card? Doesn't get more fun than that to open because it doesn't feel like any card is junk. In game action shots, variety of brands, not sure what more you want as a collector wanting to rip packs.

This year is a home run to me with the addition of chrome silvers. The chrome cards are nice, rare but still obtainable in every box, but the chrome parallels including silver are a truly rare chase not found in every box. However, at least for now, they're still priced way below equivalent silvers from other products, even ones from lesser products like mosaic are going for multiples of chronicles silvers. Strange to me because if anything, a brand like crusade has much more of a legacy/history than mosaic. Chronicles is not prizm or anything on value and won't ever be, however from a collector's viewpoint, you want cards with cool photos, the chance for a rare/valuable pull, and lots of rookies and top guys like Zion, nothing comes close to chronicles. Here to stay on the hierarchy imo

I’ll use a Julius Randle base card as the example of the worst card I’ve pulled so far in all of my breaks between hobby and retail, but I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment. In total I think I’ve only pulled maybe 10-15 cards that weren’t worth at least a penny sleeve, which cannot be said for pretty much every other product out there. Sure, the paper rookies aren’t worth much on their own, but you can put them in lots and they will sell, unlike base cards of Luke Kennard and Royce O’Neal, so gimme those base rookies over junk vets any day of the week.

It also only had the Chronicles autographs and jersey cards... no autographs from the different sets. Base was ugly. However, one of the Momentum parallels was die-cut. I think if they added some die-cut parallels in the current versions it would make it better.

Thanks, I think it's basically confirmed now that an auto replaces a chrome, just not sure yet if it's replacing a chrome parallel or not but that may likely be the case

Nice, I've only opened 7 of my 40 fat packs.

Probably open 3 more so I'll be left with 30 fat packs, plus 7 hangers and 23 blasters. Probably sit on those for awhile and see where the price of this wax goes.

Luminance is definitely my favorite card even though I normally don’t care for paper cards. The photography is just too awesome on them. Actually really like the font and layout for the player name also.

Still sitting on 8 hangers and 6 blasters. Plan on keeping at least 5 of each sealed. May open the others but I’m not sure yet.

Ended up ripping 3 of my hangers and 1 blaster. Coalition is insane. 2 of the hangers I opened back to back had the same exact first 15 cards. Not complaining since each had a Ja Luminance though.

My tally so far is 10 fat packs, 1 blaster, and 3 hangers:
Ja - 11 cards (including 4 Luminance)
Zion - 5 cards (including 1 Luminance and 1 Phoenix)
Prizm Update - 1 (Terrence Davis)
Auto - 1 (Boris Diaw)

Overall a fun cheap rip. Don't think I'll be opening any more though unless I can find some more at MSRP. I definitely would not pay over MSRP for these.
