I got a pack yesterday and have been waiting to open it. Not sure if I should open it or sell it even though selling seems like a hassle.

the only reason you see moments at 100$ is due to the stupidity of some poor souls that don't understand the basics of life. hold until the marketplace is open for at least 2-3 days nonstop and then put your moments for sale at that price

Maybe....as long as people are having trouble actually getting money then I think prices will continue to drop dramatically. Selling moments for a couple of hundred bucks right now might not be a bad idea...who knows. we shall see

I fully believe the Seeing Stars should be more but so many new people getting the pack as their first time and not knowing the market just chokeholded these cards. People just kept undercutting and never let this moments breathe and grow.

The rising stars, due to the higher price point, should not be choke holded as much as the seeing stars in the 14 dollar pack
When I posted about my pack possibly not making back value I forgot about the challenge. To me the challenge is the only thing really keeping the low end rising stars above $200. A second year role player really isn't that valuable. If the players 1st moment ever /12000 sells for $30. How much can we really expect his second moment /2021 to sell for (after the challenge)

Very blunt and brutal.

But true.

I respect that.

How are you guys estimating these prices? At the end of the day the RS moments are limited to 2,000+. Regardless of challenges, these are the type of moments that the whales on the site prefer collecting. $200 is insane when there are moments to 4K of the same player that have been selling for more.

The only reason I'm selling my RS moments is to get my first Luka. I need that SS like right now. I can't roll with the S2 assist to Finney Smith, that ain't it chief. lol

The moment out of /4000 is the players first moment ever and almost always from the 1st game so it is getting 2 more badges compared to this one. It should be more valuable. For the non rookies these moments are getting 0 badges.

The challenge will keep them at $300+ but after the challenge I would be surprised to see the 2nd year non starting players getting much love.

The MP is a weird place so we'll see.

I'll throw a little tip out to people. There is some risk because the challenge hasn't been announced yet but the Lebron challenge is almost certainly going to require the all stars from lebrons team. The prices of those moments right now aren't at all accounting for a reward, let alone a reward that could end up being Lebron's lowest printed Series 2 base. We already know the Lebron moment was made based on the blockchain so we know it is coming and it also looks to be a dunk which is nice. I would bet that moment is worth $2k+ and none of that is being accounted for in current seeing stars prices.

I have no idea what is going on in the background of the marketplace at this point to keep it down for so long.

I'm not on discord, have they given any explanation or further information?

Anything to address people like me fearing the worst?

At this point, they should try to open a 4 hour window from 7-11 EST each night and only have the MP open for that, then take it down the rest of the day. At least buyers and sellers would know what to expect.

The problem with the marketplace is that it's not actually broken but all the bottlenecking going on during payment processing is literally making it impossible for anyone to check out. They need to either reformat the whole procedure of checking out or implement a mechanic that will slow down the amount of transactions trying to go through at the same time. And that kind of coding actually takes time. Hardware wise, I'm pretty sure they have top of the line everything with how well theyre doing already. No type of technology can keep up with this demand though.

Hardware wise you just need to scale up in AWS, plenty of power. They need to implement a queue on the bottleneck to slow down the transactions. While Flow is faster than ETH or any other blockchain it is still slow compared to standard payment processing transactions.

I’ve got a Luka, Brown & Sabonis and think Ill try to complete the set asap when the MP is up. It’s hard to see the prices not going up over the next week or when the challenge is finally announced. I’m just concerned that the Durant is 3 weeks long and there was a rumor that the Lebron challenge would start after that. No idea why they would run an all star set a month after the all star game.

I have a feeling these early moments will be very profitable and hard to acquire a few years from now.

I’ve been doing Topps Bunt since 2016 and people are really trying to collect the early cards from that time period. There’s a huge desire around them on the app. I know Bunt is not the same as TS, but I think people will desire the first TS moments and try and complete these sets in the future. Especially as new members join. I’m holding.

I didn't even consider the whole blockchain aspect of this. Yeah, they need to implement the checkout queue ASAP.

This is what I’ve been saying since I started. I initially said it would be nice to know what they are working on but we aren’t owed it. I’ve changed my tune. Essentially, we are all investing into this thing with the hopes it gets out of beta faster. I do believe we are owed transparency into what they are doing to resolve the issues. It would give a lot of potential customers confidence to jump in and not watch from the sidelines.

I'm guessing the reason the MP is stall is due to gas fees and how expensive they are, but I'm not sure

Yeah hard to lose at the current prices for those moments. I am also concerned about the challenge being 3 weeks away and then there is also a small chance they require you to have all of the durant side and the durant moment as well in order to get the Lebron. I stretched myself thin getting the Lebron side so don't think I can get both sides without selling some of my moments that I really like.

I don't know anything about the FLOW blockchain. I thought the whole point of using their own proprietary blockchain was that it would be fast & cheap???

Maybe Topshot just won't ever bring the MP back and the fun is over. At least we can watch our moments, right?

So as I understand the gas fees on ETH miners are awarded a "fee" for validating transactions.

Dapper owns FLOW and all of the processing so gas fees wouldn't make sense in that context and certainly not towards shutting down the network.

Unless I'm missing something here
