When utility disappears, what type of value will Sports NFT's have?
I agree. I may alone in this, but I actually prefer the panini NFTS over top shot. I'm more tied to physical cards, so I guess it makes sense. I think the candy ones are a cool blend of the two.

But unlike physical, I'm not collecting any of these these things. I'm trying to make money.

Even my favorite basketball player of all time shawn marion had a topshot, and I literally forgot that I had it for like 4 months.

I enjoyed and collected NFT's for a bit, but then just turned it into a revenue stream for my physical collection. Panini had a good thing going with a small userbase but ruined that by unloading the 5 sports onto the same community for ridiculously high price. The dutch auctions, high priced /10, /1 weekly NFL instants, and lack of Panini contact were what drove me away. It is a good community, but the greed of Panini was it for me.

If Panini cared about collectors, they would allow you to organize your own folders or put together sets. How cool would it be to see an entire set with the cards you needed blanked out? It would encourage collecting, trading, and community involvement. You could even have some type of registry with awards. The collector that completes the set with the lowest combined serial numbers wins a special NFT. There are so many things I suggested to Panini, but it is apparent on what matters to them. Selling as many packs as they can, ignoring the NFT's they already sold, and bleeding their userbase dry.

What do you define as “traditional” card collectors? Yes there’s a growing amount of people to flip but flipping into PC items is a way to collect your PC.

Yes the older generation of card collectors are less likely to like NFTs, I mean that’s a generational thing across the board. You don’t see a large influx of old people on new apps like TikTok and such.

The younger generations are certainly more prone to try new things and give things a shot, I’ve noticed a lot of older collectors automatically say they hate it before actually understanding what it is

I define it as someone that collects without using it as an investment or a revenue stream. I use NFT's as a revenue stream and I collect cardboard. That is my definition.

True collectors are the minority in physical product as well, but it is much higher than in NFT's. Maybe 30% of cardboard are true collectors, but it would be 3% or less for NFT's.

What is this Tik Tok thing you are talking about?

Adding to Post: When Luka /60,000 sells for $3 and Mo Bamba /60,000 sells for $2, it shows that the NFT isn't valuable, but the collector score and potential for utility drives the price. If people collected Top Shot NFT's, cool moments and players names would drive the market.

I bought a pack, but plan to hold. Market prices are definitely softening. I may have to grab some moments on the market.

Got in the queue out of habit and would have been able to buy a pack but passed this time.

Are you buying the $250 pack today? Why, why not?

I would highly highly recommend against the premium for 249. Yes you could pull a legendary/a really good rare but you also have a chance to get absolutely burned with a bad rare. I think the 249 is a truly awful price

Thanks for the insights guys. I’ve officially been convinced to not get the premium pack. Was considering getting the standard pack but now leaning more towards just picking up a couple moments off the marketplace.

Total investment so far about $700. $1000 profit withdrawn with $200 left in dapper. Almost $400 in unopened packs and about $600 in moments at current prices. Hopefully I can grow it from here on without needing to reinvest.

Out of the 25 Rares you can hit in the Premium pack, from looking at it quickly, the only ones selling above the pack price right now are Herbert, Metcalf, Kupp and Beckham. Most of the others are selling for less than 1/2 the pack price.

Was going to do a premium pack, but pulled a #35/899 Rare Metcalf out of my normal pack, so I'm done for the day.

I saw GaryVee in my DAO's Discord server the other day. Make of that what you will.

he also stopped by panini, candy, - pretty much everything but Top Shot. Which is kind of funny.

Topshot window closed for most.

Like a drug, know when to stop or you end up broke.

I would offer that it is a different beast/experience than when the very early adopters were involved. The days of "hitting a home run", if you will, appear long gone. That being said, I've still more than doubled my money invested in the last year by being prudent, and following a game plan to build CS to obtain better packs, and picking good players at dips so I get "free" cards from challenges. I still enjoy it (excepting a few pack-drop bloodbaths).

I've kind of taken a different approach to each new site. For example, Panini, which you seem involved in right now, I chose to buy about $2000 worth of early packs of mostly basketball, parallels and base, as well as some early football, and am leaving them unopened for a year or two. Then sell. Will this stategy work? Maybe.

learned that for NFT with challenges. OPEN NOW. You can sell when the moments are worth something.

I opened everything and selling when hot or in challenges.

$2000 in Panini can go a long way buying singles. 3-10x on challenge NFT cards.

Everyone has a way to enjoy . so just enjoy.
