2) Get a nice copy of both Ichiro's 1993 BBM card and Steph Curry's "layup" Panini RC

3) Find a real NNOF Frank Thomas RC for less than $500, LOL

3. Recycle any profits from sales into meeting my first two goals to try and not spend out of pocket on the hobby

I'm refocusing my Cecil Fielder card collection to cards from 1986 to 1999 (basically the playing years). Leaf, Topps Archives, and even Panini to an extent are making too many parallels, and the cost to collect Fielder cards from more recent years is just gotten to be too much.

I want to add a few nice pieces to my Ohtani/Witt/Mahomes collections. Cut back on sealed box purchases. Pick up a nice position on Pokemon Illustration Rares, Special Illustration Rares and finish my Sword & Shield era Alternate Art collection. Hoping to add a Mark Hamill Star Wars licensed auto to that collection.

Goals for 2025 UPDATE:

• sell or trade away at least half of the cards I don't care about (modern traders, non-PC giants cards, non-PC slabs, inserts, etc.)
• sell or open 25% of my non-PC unopened boxes at 30%, opened 3 and sold 8
• complete 2017 pro debut, 2024 heritage, and 2025 pro debut sets down to a dozen or so needed for '24 heritage
• formalize the target list for my newly started player collection done, and already acquired about 30% of the target cards
• finish moving 100% of my PC into binders at about 80%

I've sold off about $15k of my trade-bait and bought a few of my vintage "grails." And I've remained net-zero on hobby spend this year so I've made more progress already than I thought I'd make all year tbh.

All I'm left with trade bait wise is mostly just the dregs I'll likely have to bulk out to a dealer to get rid of.

Definitely channeled my inner marie kondo for a few months there:

• sell or trade away at least half of the cards I don't care about done, 90% sold or traded
• sell or open 25% of my non-PC unopened boxes done, more than 50% sold
• complete 2017 pro debut, 2024 heritage, and 2025 pro debut sets on the fence about just cutting bait on 2017 pro debut; only a handful left for 2024 heritage
• formalize the target list for my newly started player collection done, and already acquired about 75% of the target cards
• finish moving 100% of my PC into binders done

Aside from completing '24 heritage and '25 pro debut, my new goal is to get my PC down to 2 shelves of binders, one tub of sealed boxes, one display case, and one 3200ct by the end of the year.

Since this thread is bumped, I will weigh in since I have the moment within my mind to share thoughts of progress today:

1A accomplished. 1B not technically since nothing truly earth shattering showed up for my PC's. 2 also completed. All misc is gone. PC related only now. 3 is still the good fight but that is superbly razor thin since the lack of reinvestment dollars is all but gone. Still searching to bide time as the health all around our home is rocky as heck. Can't wait till NFL/NHL/NBA come back for my fandom to be filled appropriately. As for #4, hope someone out there still finds the trading card chase in-between the lanes of changes in the market. I wish I could share my "purist" hobby thoughts on a youtube channel but realize nobody would listen or care. Would not be about promotion but true deep connections about sports and sports cards from someone who watches from afar. I do not look good on camera at all anymore so that is another reason I shouldn't. Not due to poor hygiene but sunken cheeks due to declining health. A face for radio lol

Please take a moment this holiday season to stop and understand what the fundamental sentiment is in trading cards and why you buy lots of them every year. Lots of players and lots of team and the cards attachment to them in your hands and your collection that you can share with others. That's why I've had collection threads all these years. To encourage others to share your PC drives. No more publications to feature these. There's some youtubers and IG pics of course but as someone who has been in the sports card aisle of life for a long continuous journey to find the next cool cards, share your cardboard slices of peace with anyone you can find. Everyone has their pursuits even if your family and friends are physical activities or travel or events, but for those with these hobby pastimes, share and spread the good word about the idea of collecting and the passion of sports that go with them.

1. Been doing pretty good on this. Occasionally I will buy some retail just to scratch the itch but have not bought a hobby box in I don't even know how long.
2. Yes and no, I have been on a Heritage Real One Auto's kick lately of my Reds guys so I have bought a few low end and a little no so low end.
3. No wrestling left and only a couple Nicklaus Rc's left for my PC.
