Horrid, way to wreck the patina of a card with fine eye appeal.

PSA Cert #27898984

1912 T227 Series Of Champions Ty Cobb MINERS EXTRA

Value gain of $2,371.00

This card was sold by PWCC to an unknown buyer as a SGC-AUTH on May 08, 2016 for $1,780.00. PWCC Marketplace link: https://www.pwccmarketplace.com/items/1276595
Same card was sold by PWCC as a PSA-3 for $4,151.00 on October 08, 2017. PWCC Marketplace link: https://www.pwccmarketplace.com/items/1571983

Yellow circles are fiber or print mark identifiers.
I cannot see what was done to improve the card. The SGC listing mentions a scuff on the chest but I can't see it with the scans provided. Something was done to allow it to slip through unless PSA is just that bad (likely).

I think it is more on point to continue to identify cards with obvious alterations; if you start looking for every time SGC and PSA disagreed the thread will lose focus. My two cents.

Thank goodness I never bought the T227 Cobb. At on time, I really wanted one.

209 on the original purchase.
As an aside, you can see how much he likes this card or more likely Leaf in general. Look at all these buys just in this grade. Another search tool perhaps. I would focus on 48 Leaf FB that are low pop in higher grades.

Latest Auction Prices for: PSA 6 - Average Price: $168.06

6/23/16 eBay Image pwcc_auctions w***1 15 $209.50
9/13/15 eBay Image just_collect w***1 15 $227.50
10/5/13 eBay Image mintstateinc w***1 BIN $225.00
4/3/11 eBay Image just_collect w***1 15 $271.99

Maybe all the dealers should be informed that they should cancel all purchases by Gary Moser... why is his eBay account still active?

PSA Cert #27148667

1973 Topps Roberto Clemente #50

Value gain of $438.25

This card was sold by PWCC to whitman111 (Gary Moser) as a PSA-7.5 for $71.75 on June 15, 2016. PWCC Marketplace link: https://www.pwccmarketplace.com/items/1291252
Same card was sold by PWCC as a PSA-9 for $510.00 on May 25, 2017. PWCC Marketplace link: https://www.pwccmarketplace.com/items/1488811

Yellow circles are fiber or print mark identifiers.
Red squares identify more than probable coloring in with a light gray of the area where the ink offset during the printing leaving whitish areas and the spot on the helmet. The area on the left white border looks cleaned up.
ADDED NOTE: The grade jumped 1.5 points and the reasons are not always easy to see. If they were more obvious they would more than likely be flagged. You have to remember that this is a Moser bought card and we are trying to identify alterations looking at a screen. If the card was in my hand it would be so much easier to spot added color using a printers loupe. I did blow up the area even larger than shown to see if the pixilation blurred and it did. You would be very surprised at how many Moser cards that I have found with grade bumps and I just couldn't see enough to merit posting them. You also need to remember that Moser is not a simple crack and re-subber. He works on his cards.

And this doesn't include all the others who have been convicted of crimes for their actions in the hobby: John Rogers, the Mastro guys, etc.

You have to assume every high grade card is altered and every auction is shilled. And act accordingly.

Figured I'd take a look at Green Cobbs since I know those became en vogue and shot through the roof. I found 5 examples that are PSA graded that Moser purchased (I haven't started looking at the SGC examples yet). As I started to go back just to quickly see if I could catch him... yahtzee.

PSA 2 Moser bought off PWCC on 12/04/2016 for $2,061.

And here's the PSA 3.5 after Moser worked on it. He sold it through PWCC on 4/09/2017 for $4,827.

You can see the unique vertical scratch on the right side in the green. Guess he couldn't figure out how to color it in. Still an easy $2k.

Oh, here's another.

PSA 2.5 Moser bought off PWCC on 12/10/2017 for $3,977.

Presto-change-O PSA 3 sold via PWCC on 10/14/2018 for $7,067

You can see the unique paper loss quarter-moon sections on Cobb's right tit.

Jefferson Burdick, Lionel Carter etc. never could have imagined this sh*t. Maybe we need another Forbes puff piece to restore our spirits.
