Yeah, next year could be really rough. Hopefully not so much though. Felix has some miles on him, but is also extremely talented. Hopefully this season was embarrassing enough that he does work on his game this offseason, and come back to be a solid #3 guy in the rotation. He may not. If so, I think next year is his last year anyways.

Seager was beyond brutal this year, and has been declining the last 2 years. He's still young enough that he can bounce back. I mean, he can't really be any worse, can he?

Nicasio has been good his whole career before coming over. Plus dealt with some injuries this year. Hoping that was the case for him.

I think Dee should really just be a utility guy. Can play many positions, can pinch run late in games. Definitely not worth his contract. Has the worst ABs on the team. Makes Zunino look like a disciplined hitter at times.

Leake is the one I am probably most ok with. He started off horribly this year. Then was one of our most consistent for a long stretch. Then had some bad starts sprinkled in. If we can avoid the slow start next year, he should have a pretty solid year.

Robbie is one of those guys we knew the day would come on. We knew there would be several bad seasons for us on the contract. Luckily he isn't like Seager or Zunino black hole bad. He is still good at his position. Just not worth the money. Bringing him in has helped us get players like Cruz to sign here though. Unfortunately that didn't turn out well for us as far as playoffs, but players have looked at Seattle as a destination since signing him

Saw on a different thread the argument of "which team is in the worst place/situation right now", and people were throwing out teams like the Angels, Orioles, Padres, Marlins, and Giants. It was funny, any one of those teams are in a better situation than we are. Age, Minor League System, Prospects, Payroll, Manager, etc...

The way Servais used the pitch hitters today was beyond comprehension. I was left speechless.

I will try end on a positive note though, and say Haniger is just starting to touch his potential. I think he will be an AL all-star for us for many years to come. Diaz, when used in the right situation, was phenomenal this year, cool to see his growth.

…. oh and those ginter x mini silvers and reds are gorgeous! Nice pick ups!

I know we have an issue when it comes to a lack of talent, but we also have an issue with a lack of heart. There seem to be quite a few guys who have quit on the team/manager, some earlier than others. If Paxton and Segura are both back next year, and they probably will be, I'll have a tough time watching games. These guys look for any excuse to sit out while their teammates are actually doing their jobs. Apparently neither one can play now because they're sick. Interesting how that happens when it becomes obvious they aren't going to make the playoffs. I think I'd rather keep an underperforming player like Dee who actually gives a sh*t around over those chumps.

Seattle's problem is they have never done a full rebuild. Always kinda start one, then rush their best prospects, and sign a vet, and assume they are ready to compete.

It really makes it tough being in the division we're in. Angels will probably be better next year. So you still have the Stros and A's bringing back their core and probably being better. So the Mariners have to make enough changes to compete with those guys. I don't see it happening. I'd be down for a rebuild. They won't do it though. Hopefully something clicks with this squad. Will be a fun season nonetheless. Will be back in Seattle for it, going to head to as many games as I can.

I understand why the move was made I just need to stop getting attached to players so much. Paxton was mine and my wife’s favorite player and Mikey was a close second, mainly because we got to meet each of them multiple times at FanFest. I really hope this trade is worth it but it’s gonna take a lot for DiPoto to get me back in his good graces. I have only one request now: Fire Dave Simms!

Same. Diaz is just so filthy but we'll find another suitable closer when we're actually in the playoff hunt. I liked Cano too but sooner rather than later he was going to be taking up a spot in the field that we would need to give to a younger player. I'm just glad Dipoto is serious about a rebuild

If I remember correctly, didn’t he hit over .400 each year he played in college? Man, I remember how pumped I was when the Mariners drafted him. So sad his career didn’t do well. Hopefully he can turn it around.

Yeah highly touted - was picked just behind Stasburg. It was definitely hard to watch though...just so many strikes looking. He'll be 31 soon so it'd be pretty cool if he were to have a resurgence

Lots of good teams in the AL West. But good to know Seattle will be exciting to watch this year, and the following years with some of that young talent we have. Julio Rodriguez, Kelenic, Kyle Lewis. None of those guys will open the year at the ML level, but when their time comes in the future, it'll be fun.

The ML roster will be fun to watch as well. Lots of growing pains I am sure. Haniger is off to a good start. Domingo can really launch it. Gordon has 3 walks? Shed Long provides a lot of excitement, and can play all over. Seager has been hitting the other way a lot this spring, and trimmed down. Vogelbach may get some real playing time depending on what happens with Healy, Bruce, and Encarnacion. Mallex is fun on the basepaths, and a plus defender. JP Crawford will start in the minors. Catcher seems to be a bit concerning though.

Pitching wise, Felix has had some good 1st innings, but can't seem to get out of jams anymore. Marco is off to a solid start. Kikuchi was a blast to watch pitch, especially what he did to Votto. Sheffield could be the ace, has some really nice stuff. Altavilla has shown some filthy stuff this spring. Bautista, Strickland, and Dunn have all had really good springs as well to this point. They are saying Dunn may go the route of being a starter. Not a pitcher, but Ackley seems to be a veteran hitter. Very good plate discipline. Drawing his walks, not swinging at junk. Probably gonna start in AAA, but could be a solid guy to call up if an injury occurs. Not sure why I still root for him :)

I know it's early in Spring. I am just happy to have baseball back! Think the team will finish around .500, and a be a lot of fun to watch in the process.

Yeah think the happiest person over there is deGrom. Having a lockdown closer like that in close games is a godsend. Great chance for him to win Cy again this year.

He just stands there with his head up his azz while the guy on the mound gives the game away. No chance can you leave Gearrin out there after the first 2 BB.
