As many posts as we have regarding them. I figure we can make one thread to keep them all together.

Unless Franklin is hurt. Wedge is an idiot! Guy goes 3-5 last night, easily one of our best hitters, and gets the day off today. Guess we need to make sure we can keep getting Brendan Ryan in the lineup.

I know all about scheduled off days, but they were just off 2 days ago

You Harang?

Harang. The one guy you never know what you are gonna get. He seems to go to one extreme or the other.

He will either shut you out and only give up a couple hits. Or, will get blasted and give up 3 HR and 8ER. Im hoping if he struggles today they DFA him and bring up Erasmo

Your facing the exact same thing on the Cubs today. Samrektrjwitweipa either gives up 4 or 5 earned runs, or he is absolutely incredible.

Haha, I don't have anything personal against the guy, I just think he's had his shot enough and it would be nice to give someone else a shot. Unfortunately that would mean moving another person off the 40 man roster...again. Was hoping for Romero, but he just got back from a wrist injury and isn't on the 40 man, Peguero is

If it makes you feel better, my wife love Peggy lol

Spoke too soon, according to Wedge Ackley has a sprained thumb, not broken. They will get by with the OFers they have. So expect a double dose of Ibanez/Chavez/Bay for at least a few days

I was so enthused for today, I really thought we would have the lineup of the future, but Wedge has to continue to play Chavez, I really don't understand it. I would much rather have Saunders in every day and have him get back on track like he was earlier in the season. By September, if this isn't the everyday lineup, I'm going to go postal.

Miller ss
Franklin 2b
Seager 3b
Smoak (I think Morales is gone) 1b
Ibanez dh
Bay lf
Zunino c
Ackley cf
Saunders rf

Felix #1
Kuma #2
Hultzen #3
Ramirez#4
Paxton #5

Saunders got his finger stepped on by a spike yesterday and it caved his fingernail in. He can't swing a bat for a few days, so he's only able to run

jason122883
06-30-2013, 11:50 AM
Saunders needs to fix his mechanics. Go back to the way he used to swing the bat. Right now, everything he swings at, he puts this big looping swing on. He has been terrible.

I agree with Paxton. He won't be getting the call, unless he can figure his #@#@#@#@ out in AAA.

You also dont have Morse in your lineup

I figured I chime in here, but what does everyone think of Wedge? For once I feel he should be let go. He's made a ton of mistakes this year with lineups, pitching matchups, taking pitchers out to quickly, leaving them in too long, etc. Last night he didn't really have a choice with so many guys banged up but still...

I have a lot of wiggle room for managers and do realize he has made mistakes the whole time he's been here, but this year they are just too frequent. There's been numerous times this year already that I've said 'What are you doing?' when I normally say it just a few times a year (again, I'm pretty lenient with my M's).

I agree. I think it can be a bit depressing for fans this season because of the poor start / but if you look at the staff for next year (Walker replaces Bonderman most likely, MAYBE Paxton in there as well) and the talent around the diamond ...

Seager / Smoak (kid needs to bring it second half) / Franklin / Miller / Z ... it's a good young line-up. If they can get something for Morales (who is likely gone in a few weeks), who knows.

Now the whole line-up getting their hits. Nice to see Zunino finally tally one. Kid has hit four ropes tonight and only 1 hit to show for it.

Yea, in a perfect world but I don't think they'll be able to get all three to open the season. Hultzen likely won't be on the opening day, Ramirez is iffy ... but they're likely sellers for the next month so let's see if Saunders, Harang and Morales stick around.

Me too.

Ackley's K was terrible

Ackley up twice with runner on third and less than two outs today ... over-matched by Holland. It's easy to see when a kid can hit .440 at the AAA level and then come back up to tank that his problem has nothing to do with his ability. Something not right upstairs that is preventing him from being great (or even serviceable).

Hope he can overcome it.

Interesting logic question just developed here. Farrell wants to take out Webster during an AB to Smoak. 1-0 count, Webster keeps throwing to 1st base trying to let Aceves warm up. Farrell then comes out and attempts to pull Webster but isn't allowed to do so until Webster throws another pitch to the plate.

Question is ... why would Allen Webster throw anything other than ball 2? No matter the pitch, he's coming out of the game / no sense in grooving a fastball. (Oddly enough, he did just that and Smoak lined out to right). Neat psychology there. Rare to have 100% certainly from a pitching standpoint that this is your last pitch no matter what.

I'm glad to see a lot of the young guys hitting, especially Smoak. If he can consistently hit between .250-.270 and consistently drive in runs, I'll be OK with him.

With Bonderman being DFA, I wonder who the next young arm will be to come up.

On a side note, I FINALLY get to go watch the M's this year. 3 of my buddies and I are heading to the West side on Saturday to watch Felix pitch against the Angels! Gonna possibly get one of those Ackley Gnome figures too! :)

there was a post yesterday that pretty much pointed to it being Ramirez. The person would have to pitch Thursday and with Paxton, Walker, and Noesi having pitched recently, Ramirez was the only option who would be available

that and Walker is gonna hit his innings count here sometime, so I don't think we'll see him in Seattle this season

At this point I don't even care about wins and losses. To me this 4 game series was a positive thing. They batted .314 had a slugging over 400 and ops over 900. Miller, Franklin, to a lesser extent Zunino, Seager, and Smoak all did well and those are about the only 5 players I care about right now other than Felix. Hopefully they built a lot of confidence with their hitting this series even if they only won 1 out of 4 from the Sox.

agreed, they scored 30 runs in a 4 game span...I'll take it. It's refreshing watching the young guys for a change actually doing something positive. I don't think watching the M's has been less frustrating for me.

Looks like Blake Beavan option to Tacoma and Erasmo Ramirez optioned to Everett today. Boby LaFramboise and Noesi called up.

I was shocked at first, then saw the reasoning. It allows Ramirez to continue pitching in Everett during the break. Apparently Tacoma also has days off with their all star game and such. So it allows him to start in a regular rotation schedule. Apparent;y he can be called back up in 10 days, so it'll most likely be that scenario

billbanning
07-12-2013, 05:03 PM
I wouldn't be surprised if they moved Blake so he can start some games for Tacoma and then come back to the bigs once he has a few. He was looking pretty good in long relief, but then again when you come in down by 7 there isn't much expectation. That better be Noesi's role with the team. Honestly, I don't wanna see him in until its out of reach.

that's the word, is that Beavan is going down to start in Tacoma. It expands their options later, but honestly I'm not a big Beavan fan at all. They really don't have a lot of options for calling up starting pitchers later with Hultzen hurt, Walker on a innning count and Paxton being semi effective. Of the 3, I would bet Paxton gets the first shot though

If Harang keeps getting killed out there, I have a feeling another move is gonna be in the making, which could end up being Beavan back again

I love almost everything about the Mariners, right now. The only exception being their 3 and 4 starters in the rotation. Joe Saunders is pitching far better than I would have thought, and deserves to bump Harang out of the 3-spot.

Smoak is starting to come around on the offensive side of the game, and the rest of the guys are killin' it. Brad Miller very well may be my favorite Mariner at this point.

Seattle staring pitching, and hitting have been very very good / but the defense and bull-pen have been quite terrible. Even during this streak, it's only been masked by the 7 runs a game Seattle is scoring.

The OF lacks any kind of range (especially if you go Bay in left, Ackley in center ... ugh) and Miller at shortstop is never going to have a gold glove. Z has been terrific behind the plate with just one past ball / no errors and only 7 SB's since his call-up (5 of which he didn't attempt a throw) but I just get the feeling that when the bats cool down a bit, the same flawed team will show itself in terms of fundamentals, strike outs, and relief.

Fun to watch for sure though.

Would have liked to see more runs against Jimenez but the Indians are good and a win is a win. Gotta keep telling myself we aren't playing the Astros anymore lol. Let's see if Erasmo can keep it going tomorrow.

The 4-spot in the rotation has been a disappointment all year. They need to move Saunders up to 3, bump Harang down a spot and figure out #5. Shoot, bring up Walker and move Harang to the 5-spot. It give the M's the best chance to go undefeated the rest of the year.

I have a feeling Jack Z might make a deal for another veteran starting pitcher. Safeco can turn a decent vet into a productive one. Hell, look how Harang pitches there!

Crossing fingers Ramirez doesn't implode again. He was terrible last time around...

You can bet with Kazmir on the mound tomorrow ... Wedge goes with the Ryan / Bay and sits Ackley.

Seattle not steamrolling like they we're against LA or Houston, but still getting the job done against Cleveland. Zunino might end up with both GW RBI's.

Good to see when Miller and Franklin aren't getting on; Seattle is still winning.

Im down with seeing him up but he wont be able to finish the season Hes quickly aproaching his Career high in innings and should be pushed as far as it would require for him to finish the season as a starter. He should be shut down around 150-160 IP i t hink his career high is like 133IP or something like that. NO reason to risk the future.

I never thought I would say this but at this point I would prefer Chavez every day.

A lot of people are wondering what's going to happen when Morse/Guti get back, I for one am looking forward to having a Ibanez / Saunders / Morse OF.
